Patent number: 6910781Abstract: A mirror assembly for a vehicle is securable to a tubular member that defines a central axis and is secured to the vehicle. The mirror assembly comprises a clamping assembly including a concave surface that is engagable with the tubular member. A housing is coupled to the clamping assembly and supports a mirror. A latching assembly engages the clamping assembly and the housing and is movable between a latched position and an unlatched position. In the latched position, the housing is held substantially fixed with respect to the tubular member. In the unlatched position, the clamping assembly is movable in a direction substantially parallel to the central axis and is pivotable about the central axis, and the housing is pivotable with respect to the clamping assembly about a pin axis that is substantially perpendicular to the central axis.Type: GrantFiled: March 21, 2003Date of Patent: June 28, 2005Assignee: Velvac, Inc.Inventors: Leo T. Spychalla, Dan H. Schneider

Publication number: 20040041069Abstract: A mounting bracket for securing a mirror assembly to a vehicle exterior includes a body having a non-planar outer surface and a mounting surface that is securable to the vehicle. A slit is defined in the body, opens away from the mounting surface, and defines a first plane. An aperture extends through the body and the slit substantially perpendicularly to the first plane. A counterbore is recessed with respect to the outer surface and surrounds the aperture. At least a portion of a cap is positioned in the counterbore and overlies the counterbore and the aperture.Type: ApplicationFiled: March 28, 2003Publication date: March 4, 2004Applicant: Velvac, Inc.Inventors: Kevin D. Fiess, David G. Otto

Publication number: 20020095743Abstract: A two-piece interlocking handle assembly which provides a rigid hand hold for a hose and coupling device received thereby, the handle assembly being particularly useful when coupling a glad hand operatively mounted to the hose and coupling device extending from a trailer of a semi-tractor to a glad hand operatively mounted to a mating air brake line extending from the semi-tractor. The handle assembly includes two opposing halves which are releasably connectable by slidably engaging projecting members of one half with associated slots of the other half. Resilient locking members mounted on one half engage the other half to securely connect the halves together.Type: ApplicationFiled: May 22, 2001Publication date: July 25, 2002Applicant: Velvac, Inc.Inventors: Daniel Henry Schneider, Leo Todd Spychalla

Patent number: 6070984Abstract: The invention provides a mirror assembly adapted to be mounted on a mirror support. The mirror assembly includes a convex mirror glass and a rear plate having an exterior surface, an interior surface and an aperture, and a seal between the mirror glass and the rear plate. The mirror assembly also includes a pin including a head, a ribbed portion, and having a longitudinal axis. The mirror assembly further includes a ball joint comprising an inner ball portion and an outer ball portion. The inner ball portion includes a first bore extending therethrough and an engagement surface for contacting the interior surface of the rear plate. The first bore is aligned with said the aperture for allowing passage of the pin. The outer ball portion includes a concave engagement surface for contacting the exterior surface of the rear plate and a second bore extending axially through the outer ball portion. The second bore is aligned with the first bore for allowing passage of the pin.Type: GrantFiled: May 22, 1998Date of Patent: June 6, 2000Assignee: Velvac, Inc.Inventor: David J. Kusik

Patent number: 4706841Abstract: The flanged head of the lock captures the plastic cup of the lock protector to retain the protector while it functions as a gasket between the lock and the fuel cap. The protector includes a cover which snaps over the cup to seal the lock against the elements. The cover is connected to the cup by an integral strap.Type: GrantFiled: June 10, 1983Date of Patent: November 17, 1987Assignee: Velvac, Inc.Inventor: Leonard A. Grajek

Patent number: 4623115Abstract: The rear view mirror bracket support incorporates multiple detent positions. The inverted cup-like cover has opposed pairs of grooves inside the side walls of the cover. A moving bracket has one end fixed to the cover and carries the mirror. A molded spring member having arcuate, radially flexible, spring arms engageable with the grooves is connected to a fixed bracket through a retainer. The retainer and the spring have serrations which are engageable to prevent relative rotation between the spring and the retainer when a bolt passing through the cover and the spring member and the retainer is tightened. When the bolt is loosened the spring member can be moved relative to the retainer to set the initial operative detent position. Now the moving bracket can be moved to any one of a number of additional detented positions or can be moved to any intermediate position which will not be detented.Type: GrantFiled: November 12, 1985Date of Patent: November 18, 1986Assignee: Velvac, Inc.Inventor: Robert R. Patent number: 4408508Abstract: The cutting tool has a circular blade having a center hole and a plurality of pivot holes spaced apart on a common radius with a handle fixed to the center hole and one of said pivot holes. A pivot shaft extends between spaced side plates and the blade is mounted on said pivot shaft. Each side plate has a throat and an anvil welded to each side plate at the rear lower corner of the throat. Each anvil has a bed plate and a back plate on which and against which the material to be cut is positioned. A blade guard depends from the handle and is contoured to lie close to the adjacent circumference of the blade and extend across the throat when the handle is in its lowermost position.Type: GrantFiled: January 7, 1982Date of Patent: October 11, 1983Assignee: Velvac, Inc.Inventors: Robert R.
