  • Patent number: 6012706
Abstract: This invention relates to the construction of a pantograph jack and, in particular, to an improvement in the construction of a pantograph jack wherein the pins connecting the arms to the base and load rest of the jack are replaced with extrusions emanating from those parts. In particular, the pantograph jack of this invention has four arms, including two lower arms, and two upper arms. Each of the lower arms has a gear end to rotate with respective gear ends mounted in a base, meshing to control the rotation of one lower arm with respect to the other lower arm. Each of the upper arms has a gear end mounted in a load rest to rotate with the gear ends of both upper arms meshing to control the rotation of one upper arm with respect to the other upper arm. The improvement comprises axles extruded at positions on axes of rotation of one or more of the gear ends, and the axles providing means to mount the arms in the base or the load rest.

  • Patent number: 5988594
Abstract: A jack configuration, which may be characterized as a half scissor jack, which achieves the objects of simplifying manufacture by reducing component parts and limiting overall size of the jack while providing the requisite load bearing and height variation characteristics appropriate to the intended vehicle lifting and which furthermore reduces the potential for a torsional deflection in the base channel. Torsional deflection is reduced by creating a box section in the base channel, preferably by providing a channel bracket structure that spans the base channel to maintain the spacing of the side walls of that component.

  • Patent number: 5906221
Abstract: This invention relates to an improved reservoir for power steering fluid which is particularly suitable for use on large vehicles, such as trucks. The improved reservoir of this invention comprises a well to contain a surplus of power steering fluid. The well has an inlet to permit the introduction of fluid from a power steering mechanism into the well, and an outlet to permit the fluid to flow out of the well to the power steering mechanism. The well also has a filter attached over the inlet. The filter comprises a container having a lower chamber, a side chamber, a filter medium and a relief valve. Fluid received in the lower chamber from the inlet pipe flows to the side chamber and through the filter medium from the outside surface to the inside surface, and then out through a center orifice to the well. Fluid at or above a predetermined pressure flows through the pressure relief valve and out through the center orifice to the well.

  • Patent number: 5899500
Abstract: A staged coinjection molding process to produce a vehicular mud guard or similar molded article having regions of different mechanical properties. The process includes the steps of injecting a relatively small quantity of low flexural modulus (flexible) plastic resin to form a skin along the proximal walls of the mold cavity, followed by an injection of high flexural modulus (stiff) plastic resin. Finally, a second injection of flexible resin is introduced into the mold to force to stiff material to the distal region of the mold. This results in the two dissimilar plastic materials having a longitudinal interface to reduce the risk of delamination.

  • Patent number: 5697598
Abstract: This invention relates to a lifting jack for automobiles and other vehicles. In particular, a one piece load rest is disclosed having a top surface with elements including a flat, a trough, and a ridge to connect to a vehicle, and having right and left legs to straddle and to fasten to a jack. The jack is characterized in that: the load rest is formed from a flat plate that in two dimensions has a first section with a first locking connector, a second section with the legs extending laterally outwardly, a third section outlining the elements of the top surface, and a fourth section with a second locking connector. The third section is bent to form the flat, trough, and ridge elements of the top surface. The legs of the second section are bent upwards, and the second section is bent under the top surface to project the legs downwardly. The first locking connector is joined to the second locking connector to secure the load rest together.

  • Patent number: 5692732
Abstract: This invention relates to the construction of pantograph jacks and, in particular, relates to the construction of an improved trunnion for connecting the pantograph jack arms to the drive shaft. In particular, a pantograph jack is disclosed that has at least one joint including an end of an upper arm, an end of a lower arm, and a drive screw shaft all connected by a trunnion means. The improved trunnion comprises a rectangular plate having a length extending from a first end to a second end, and including a substantially flat first section, a curved second section folded back over the first section to juxtapose the second end to the first end, and the first section and the second section having first and second holes, respectively, aligned and sized to receive the drive screw shaft for sliding movement.
