Abstract: A device for communicating electric signals across the skin layer (1) of a patient, wherein the device includes: an electrically conductive core (2) capable of forming an EMF flux loop; first (3) and second (4) coils, which are in EMF communication with said electrical conductive core (2) and wherein the first coil (3) is positioned externally to the patient and surrounds at least a first portion of the electrically conductive core (2); and the second coil (4) is implanted beneath or in the skin layer and surrounds at least a second portion of the electrically conductive core.

Abstract: A battery receptacle for use with a medical device, said receptacle comprising at least one cavity accessed via a respective door, said cavity adapted to slidably receive at least one non-cylindrical battery to engage with electrical contacts in a single predetermined orientation, said receptacle and said battery each being provided with complementary slidable engagement means that must be engaged with each other when inserting said battery into said cavity, thereby only allowing said battery to engage said contacts in said single predetermined configuration, and wherein said receptacle further comprising at least one portion that allows said battery to be visible when said battery is inserted in said cavity and said door is closed.
Abstract: A method and system for communication of patient data acquired from a patient (13) involving the use of a predetermined communications protocol (48, 49, 50) whereby patient data is communicable from a patient location to an analysis location. In a preferred form, the patient data has appended to its supplementary data which can include address information and identity information.
