  • Patent number: 4391090
Abstract: The invention relates to a device for pneumatically threading a yarn in a double twist spindle. It is disposed inside a sleeve connecting two tubes adapted to constitute the central shaft of a double twist spindle. A yarn brake capsule passing through the flat rod of a piston is disposed inside the sleeve, its ends abutting against the opening of the bore of one tube and against that of the central hole of an end piece mounted at the end of the other tube. When compressed air is sent into the bore of the first tube, the piston is moved, causing a lateral shift of the yarn brake capsule, thus allowing passage of the yarn along the bore of the spindle. The invention is particularly applicable to double twist spindles.

  • Patent number: 4283907

  • Patent number: 4261164
Abstract: In a double twist spindle device wherein the support of the supply bobbin is retained against rotation on the spindle proper by two rows of permanent magnets disposed opposite each other each side of the radial passage of the yarn issuing from the axial bore of the spindle, one of the said rows is mounted in such manner as to be displaceable through a limited extent with respect to its supporting member. If the frictional torque between the spindle and the bobbin support temporarily reaches such an excessive value that the relative angular displacement of the rows becomes equal to the pitch of the successive magnets in both rows, the repulsive magnetic forces displace the said displaceable row in such manner that the undesirable accelerating effect of the magnetic forces on the bobbin support is eliminated or at least strongly decreased and that the rows may again find a new state of equilibrium when the excessive frictional torque disappears.

  • Patent number: 4020774
Abstract: In a tufting machine for making patterned pile fabric, each thread passes on two successive guiding pulleys horizontally spaced from each other and selectively displaced vertically independently from each other by the hooks of a loom Jacquard. A thread-lowering beater bar is vertically reciprocated between these pulleys in unison with operation of the machine to draw from the supply bobbin a predetermined length of thread for the formation of a pile loop by the corresponding needle of the machine, a unidirectional thread clamping device being provided between the second pulley and the needle to prevent thread being drawn from the needle itself. The length of thread thus fed to the needle at each advancing stroke of the latter thus varies as one or both of the pulleys are raised by the Jacquard. A stationary bar may be disposed at an adjustable height laterally of the pulleys to permit of altering the length of thread fed to the needle when the adjacent pulley is low.

  • Patent number: 3944134
Abstract: A punching machine for the cards or paper bands used in jacquards, dobbies and the like, comprises horizontal punches individually actuated by pusher means through presser rods which may be selectively brought to an ineffective oblique position. Each presser rod is attached to a needle itself attached by its upper end to a vertical rod. All these vertical rods are alternately raised and permitted to return downwardly so as to reciprocate in front of individual electromagnets which are selectively energized to retain some of the said vertical rods at their raised position. The vertical rods are disposed in successive longitudinal rows and the electromagnets are arranged in corresponding superposed horizontal elongated banks, the vertical rods of each row terminating upwardly short of the next bank of electromagnets in order not to interfere with them.

  • Patent number: 3943422
Abstract: In the automatic reading of a weave design from a pattern including weft rows and warp rows, the advance of the reading assembly (photo-electric cells) from one weft row to the next one is effected by a step-by-step electric motor which receives "secondary" pulses from a ring counter to which "primary" pulses are applied, whenever the number of such "primary" pulses received by said counter is equal to the quotient of the number of "primary" pulses required to displace said assembly from one extreme weft row to the other one, divided by the number of weft rows minus one unit, this quotient being taken as an integer. The incremental advance of the reading assembly for each step of the motor is much smaller than the centering tolerance of said assembly required to place it in front of each weft row, and the number of "primary" pulses required to determine such a step is selected much higher so that the error which results from the fact that the quotient is limited to an integer is also negligible.
