Patents Assigned to Vereinigte Aluminum-Werke AG
  • Patent number: 5268236
Abstract: A composite aluminum plate suitable for making targets for coating processes, and methods for making them are disclosed. The plate comprises a surface layer of pure aluminum or an alloy of pure aluminum, and a supporting layer made of a hardenable aluminum alloy having a Brinell hardness index HB of at least about 50 after being heat-treated under suitable conditions. The targets made are suitable for physical or sputter coating processes such as cathodic sputtering and magnetron sputtering.

  • Patent number: 4966819
Abstract: A covering frame for roof windows, doors, facade linings or auxiliary materials, the covering including a lead apron forming a water-tight transition. The lead apron has an aluminum layer glued to the top of the lead layer. The aluminum layer protects the lead layer to reduce the likelihood of cracks arising in the lead apron, as well as prevents the leaching of the lead due to weathering. At the same time, the aluminum layer provides for a permanent, decorative appearance of the lead apron. Further protection is available against atmospheric corrosion by applying a coat of paint to the aluminum layer. Preferably, the lead apron is corrugated and pleated together with the aluminum layer.

  • Patent number: 4945004
Abstract: The invention is directed toward a base material for aluminium offset printing plates having improved heat stability comprising an aluminum alloy consisting of from about 0.2 to about 0.6% by weight of iron, less than about 0.25% by weight silicon and copper combined, from about 0.1 to about 0.3% by weight manganese and the remainder being aluminum and trace production impurities, said base material further characterized as containing secondary precipitates in the form of phases of the Al Mn Si: Al Fe: Al Mn type which bear a ratio to one another of from about 1:1:2 to about 1:1:3, the mean particle size being from about 0.25 to about 0.010 micron with a maximum particle size of less than about 0.3 micron and further containing a precipitation structure with a degree of dispersion of less than about 50 phases per cubic micron and a process for producing such material. The sheet material according to this invention may be uniformly roughened in either HCl or HNO.sub.

  • Patent number: 4936068
Abstract: Tubular structural elements and assemblies comprising an outer tube and a concentric inner tube connected to each outer by ribs and having very high stability. Lengthwise recessed groove spaces are provided between the ribs, covered on the outside by removable strips or sectors of the outer tube and designed to receive flat structural elements. One or more of the groove spaces, which are sealed off by the strips or sectors of the outer tube, can be exposed by removal of the covering strips or sectors so that flat structural elements such as walls or facade panels, glass panes, or the like can be inserted where desired. The tubular structural element is sealable at the ends by end caps or sealing elements, or is connectable by axial or branched coupling parts with other tubular sections connectable at various angles, to erect halls, room partitions, pavilions, or the like.
