Patent number: 5057842Abstract: In order to decrease the interfering reflection of radar radiation from building walls during radar surveillance on the ground, the outer walls are formed on their surfaces so that the reflected radar waves are subjected in part to a phase shift of one half wavelength with respect to each other. This results in a partial obliteration of the reflected waves. The reflecting surface of the outer wall comprises for that purpose of individual elements whose superficial extent is smaller than the surface irradiated by a radar impulse, and which are staggered in depth in such manner that adjoining surface elements are located at a distance from each other which is equal, for perpendicular incidence of the radar radiation, to one quarter wavelength of the radar radiation used.Type: GrantFiled: April 20, 1990Date of Patent: October 15, 1991Assignee: Vegla Vereinigte Glaswerke GmbHInventors: Erhard Moller, Lutz Bernstein

Patent number: 4978207Abstract: A traffic mirror comprises a spherically curved glass pane having a front surface, a rear surface, and an outer periphery, a metal reflective layer located on the inner surface of the glass pane, and a decorative frame located directly on the glass pane. The decorative frame is an enamel-like colored material which is baked onto the outer periphery of the glass pane. The traffic mirror further comprises a supporting structure for mounting the traffic mirror onto a vertical post. The supporting structure comprises at least two supporting struts which, are attached directly to the glass pane, for example, by bolts passing through bores in the glass pane itself. The glass pane is made from thermally prestressed single pane safety glass. The traffic mirror does away with the bulky frames used in prior art mirrors of this kind.Type: GrantFiled: June 7, 1989Date of Patent: December 18, 1990Assignee: Vegla Vereinigte Glaswerke GmbHInventors: Manfred Gillner, Josef Wlaschitsch, Werner Nuding, deceased

Patent number: 4684571Abstract: A light diffusing, insulating glass element is disclosed comprising two thin silicate glass panels (1, 2) each about 2 mm thick, and a thick intermediary layer (3) about 15 to 20 mm thick. The intermediary layer (3) is made from a foamed-up acrylate glass having closed bubbles. This layer has a specific weight of approximately 20 to 30 kg/m.sup.3 and a light transmissivity of 60 to 80% for a layer thickness of 20 mm. A shatterproofing splinter-bonding transparent layer (5) is located between one of the glass panels (1, 2) and the intermediate layer (3) and is bonded to them. The other glass panel is bonded to the intermediate layer (3) by means of a thin adhesive coat. The insulating glass element is light and, because of its safety-glass properties, is particularly well suited for ceiling use.Type: GrantFiled: September 6, 1985Date of Patent: August 4, 1987Assignees: Vegla Vereinigte Glaswerke GmbH, JMC Acrylguss GmbH & Co.Inventors: Heinz Kunert, Hermann-Wolf Jbach

Patent number: 4628652Abstract: A glass modular construction block is provided with a form-fitting frame of an integral foam material, and wherein the frame on the impact surface is provided with projections and recesses, which permit a firm plug-in connection. Along the narrow sides, the frame includes sealing projections. The space between the sealing projection serves for the insertion of reinforcement bars made of flat sections, which are provided with through-going openings for the plug-in projections. Setting of the glass modular construction blocks is accomplished without any additional adhesive means, so that a wall or wall portions constructed from such glass modular construction blocks can be disassembled, and so that the glass modular construction blocks are reusable.Type: GrantFiled: August 26, 1983Date of Patent: December 16, 1986Assignee: VEGLA, Vereinigte Glaswerke GmbHInventor: Peter Wefels

Patent number: 4606159Abstract: An auto glass pane (1), intended to be installed directly into an auto is disclosed. The auto glass pane (1) has along its periphery a series of mounting strips (4) made of flexible metal. The mounting strips (4) are arranged at a defined distance from the glass pane edge. The mounting strips (4) are connected, preferably cemented, to the interior side of the glass pane (1) opposite the mounting flange of the auto body's window frame. After the glass pane is positioned within the window frame, the mounting strips (4) are bent by hand around the mounting flange. The mounting strips (4) serve to lock the glass pane into the desired position until the adhesive substance which is used to affix the auto glass pane (1) to the auto body's window frame completely hardens.Type: GrantFiled: January 4, 1985Date of Patent: August 19, 1986Assignee: Vegla Vereinigte Glaswerke GmbHInventor: Heinz Kunert

Patent number: 4480417Abstract: This invention discloses an improved glass pane framed by a U-shaped profile rail wherein the adhesion of the glass pane to the clamping rail is significantly increased. At least one side of the marginal area of the glass pane framed by the U-shaped profile rail is provided with a group of raised bodies which are anchored into the surface of the glass and impress themselves into a layer of elastic deformable material that lies between the glass pane and the clamping rail.Type: GrantFiled: August 3, 1981Date of Patent: November 6, 1984Assignee: Vereinigte Glaswerke GmbHInventor: Manfred Evers

Patent number: 4378484Abstract: A windshield for automotive vehicles is disclosed wherein one or more scraping edges are disposed on its external side in the area wiped by the wiper blades. The scraping edges are an enamel-type material which is formed into strip-shaped profiles and bonded in in raised form to the surface of the glass plate. Varying amounts of metal particles may be added to the enamel material to make it conductive, and, when connected to the vehicle's electrical system, able to thaw ice and snow which accumulates on the lower part of the windshield immobilizing the wiper blade arm. The scraping edges or profiles are positioned at appropriate angles on the windshield to permit water scraped from the windshield wiper blades to run off easily to both sides.Type: GrantFiled: September 12, 1980Date of Patent: March 29, 1983Assignee: Vereinigte Glaswerke GmbHInventor: Heinz Kunert
