    Abstract: The instant application describes a method and an apparatus for restoring T1 service in the event of a copper cable failure. The apparatus includes an interface configured to receive a T1 signal from a first customer device experiencing the copper cable failure; a converter configured to receive the T1 signal from the interface and place the T1 signal inside an IP packet routable over a wide area network; and a router configured to receive the IP packet from converter and send the IP packet over the wide area network to a central hub for conversion back into the T1 signal and delivery to a second customer device. The method requires equipment on one side of the T1 (e.g., at the location of the failure), and does not need knowledge of the customer's network addressing scheme. Solution is completely layer 2 and needs no input from the customer to re-establish service.

    Abstract: Apparatus and methodology providing, a portable enclosed space in an outdoors setting, the space being free from environmentally-induced distractions. A technician can perform a mechanical or fusion splice on an optical fiber inside the space. Splicing or fusing miniscule optical fibers is challenging out of doors, particularly when distracted b wind, rain, snow, sun-glare, bugs, animals, etc. A tent is supported by a “spine” support structure modularly constructed by the technician in the outdoors location where an optical fiber operation shall take place. A splice-tray is affixed to the spine, the tray height being adjustable to accommodate that technician and provide an approximately horizontal work surface. The tent can be used on soft ground, hard pavement, leaning against utility poles or further supported by attachment to overhead cables. The technician can perform delicate operations on optical cables inside the tent with outside distractions mitigated.

    Abstract: Apparatus and methodology for applying heated-air flow to wet or damp copper cable and specifically to individual mutually-insulated copper conductors within that cable including their respective paper sheath coverings. This cable can be used in telecommunications applications. Disclosed embodiments permit drying of difficult to reach wet/damp areas within a cable and between and amongst layers of wet/damp cable. A heat gun muzzle-insert attaches, at one end, to a heat gun barrel's muzzle end to extend hot air flow from the gun through the insert and through a plurality of tubes attached to its other end, This allows air flow to be pin-pointed at wet/damp areas otherwise not reachable without the tubes. The muzzle-insert attaches via threaded connection and is made from the same material as the gun to have the same thermal expansion characteristic. The hot air flow extender mechanisms can be modularized, each ha mg differently-sized pluralities of tubes.

The method may include the following operations at a delay buffer: calculating a holding time for a plurality of packets input into a network; buffering each of the plurality of packets for the duration of the holding time; and arranging the buffered packets in a sequence indicative of an order in which the buffered packets were input into the network. The holding time may be based on a difference between a current maximum delay of the plurality of packets in a current time window and a delay of a first packet of the plurality of packets in the current time window. The method may also include playing back the buffered packets at a selected playback time. Playing back the buffered packets may be performed at a reception mechanism.
