Abstract: A system for and method of dynamic home agent allocation is presented. The system and method may include receiving, via a network, a request for allocation of a Logical Home Agent for a mobile node, selecting a Logical Home Agent for the mobile node based on one or more performance metrics, and communicating Logical Home Agent selection to the selected Logical Home Agent and the mobile node.

Abstract: A method includes receiving first information identifying profile information associated with a customer, habit information associated with the customer's television viewing habits, or Internet usage information associated with the customer. The method also includes receiving preference information from the customer, wherein the preference information identifies advertisements or types of advertisements that the customer would like to view or would not like to view. The method further includes identifying advertisements based on the received first information and the received preference information, inserting, by a service provider, the identified advertisements in a television programming data stream and providing the identified advertisements to the customer.

Abstract: An exemplary method includes a product marketing system receiving, from an access device, a product search request and image data representative of an image associated with a product, searching, in response to the product search request, a repository of product image data to identify at least one match to the image associated with the product, generating, based on the at least one match, search results data comprising product information for at least one product, and transmitting the search results data to the access device. Corresponding systems and methods are also described.

Abstract: A first network device is configured to receive a first message from a user device, the first message including an identifier for the user device and a type of information being requested by the user device, and determine a level of quality of service to be applied by a network, based on the type of information being requested by the user device. The first network is further configured to receive a second message from a second network device, the second message including an identifier for a third network device. The first network device is further configured to determine the policy device connected to the third network device. The first network device is further configured to connect with the policy device, and send rules and policies associated with the level of quality of service to the policy device.

Abstract: A network device is configured to receive a request, from a user device, for an IP address; assign the IP address to the user device; assign an amount of time that the IP address may be used by the user device; send the IP address to the user device; determine that the amount of time has expired; determine that the user device is idle; assign a new IP address to the user device after the amount of time has expired and when the user device is idle; send the new IP address to the user device; and assign a new amount of time that the new IP address may be used by the user device.

Abstract: A computer device may include logic configured to receive a selection of a start node and an end node in an optical network and obtain network topology information relating to the optical network. The logic may be further configured to determine link latencies for particular links in the optical network; determine a least latency path between the start node and the end node based on the obtained network topology information and the determined link latencies, and wherein the least latency path includes one or more of the particular links; determine one or more alternate paths to the determined least latency path; determine channel availability for the least latency path and the one or more alternate paths; and generate a user interface that relates the least latency path and the one or more alternate paths to the determined channel availability.

Abstract: Techniques for providing a gateway transfer mechanism are disclosed. In one particular exemplary embodiment, the techniques may be realized as a method, comprising identifying, at a gateway, a call to be routed to a first location, determining whether to transfer the call to a second location, in the event the call is to be transferred to the second location, transferring the call, wherein transferring the call comprises ending a process to route the call to the first location, generating transfer information for the second location, and transferring the call to the second location using the generated transfer information.

Abstract: A computer-implemented method for systematically evaluating accuracy of data in a home location register, independent of call processing and in the absence of interference with resources required for call processing at the home location register. The method includes operational steps of: identifying, from among a plurality of subscribers, a subscriber serviced by a visited location register and identifying the visited location register servicing the identified subscriber. The method also includes forwarding a message to the identified visited location register to determine if there is a corresponding record for the identified subscriber, and determining, based on a reply to the forwarded message or lack thereof, the accuracy of home location register's record for the identified subscriber.

Abstract: A first network device is configured to receive information regarding a quality of service application that is part of an application stored on a device. The first network device is configured to further receive a request for a network to apply the level of quality service to the application stored on the device. The first network device is configured to further send an authorization request to the second network device. The first network device is configured to further receive an authorization result from the second network device. The first network device is configured send a first message to a third network device and receiving a response from the third network device that the level of quality of service is applied to the information; and send a message to the provider that the level of quality of service is applied to the information.

Abstract: A network device receives a message that identifies a relationship between a first user device and a second user device, the relationship permitting status information of the first user device to be sent to the second user device when the first user device is communicating with a third user device. The network device receives the status information relating to a communication involving the first user device. The network device determines to send the status information to the second user device, based on the information identifying the relationship stored by the network device; and the network device sends the status information for presentation on the second user device.

Abstract: Exemplary media content user interface systems and methods are disclosed herein. An exemplary method includes a media content access subsystem displaying a plurality of display elements topographically distributed throughout a graphical representation of a virtual world in accordance with one or more distribution heuristics, detecting a user interaction, and dynamically adjusting the topographical distribution of the one or more display elements in accordance with the user interaction. Corresponding systems and methods are also disclosed.

Abstract: A system and method for permitting a customer of a telecommunication company, for whom fiber to the premises (FTTP) has been installed, to continue to use the telephone during utility company power failure, by powering both the optical network terminal (ONT) and the customer's telephone(s). The battery backup unit (BBU) maintains telephone usage for a predetermined period of time after power failure, e.g., two hours, consistent with duration of most utility company power outages. This permits non-interrupted telephone service for most outages and, after that period of time, if utility company power has not been restored, the BBU provides power in order to provide telephone service only on demand by the customer, for up to approximately two more cumulative hours of usage. At the end of each usage on demand, the BBU powers the telephone for approximately five more minutes to permit return phone calls, if any, after which telephone service is shut off until any next usage on demand.

Abstract: Exemplary carrier Ethernet service bandwidth allocation systems and methods are disclosed herein. An exemplary method includes a carrier Ethernet service system 1) receiving an Ethernet layer operation, administration, and management (“OAM”) protocol based message provided by a customer premises device to a network interface device over a user network interface (“UNI”), the Ethernet layer OAM protocol based message including a request to adjust an amount of bandwidth allocated to a carrier Ethernet service provided by the Ethernet service system to the customer premises device, and 2) adjusting, in response to the request, the amount of bandwidth allocated to the carrier Ethernet service. Corresponding methods and systems are also disclosed.

Abstract: A method for accessing information in a replicated database includes receiving a request for information in a database. The request is associated with a table in the database. The table includes a plurality of identifiers each identifying a portion of the information in the table. The method also includes executing a logical structure associated with the table to produce a logical view of the table. The logical view contains at least a portion of the information from the table without containing the identifiers. The method further includes identifying the requested information in the logical view, and communicating the identified requested information in the logical view.

Abstract: In one of many possible implementations, a system includes a content delivery subsystem providing online resource data and programming data associated with media content. The system further includes a content processing subsystem configured to communicate with the content delivery subsystem via a network. The content processing subsystem is configured to receive the programming data and to generate a program guide user interface including at least a subset of the programming data. The content processing subsystem is configured to access and utilize the online resource data to generate the program guide user interface when the online resource data is accessible via the network. The content processing subsystem is further configured to maintain and utilize offline resource data instead of the online resource data to generate the program guide user interface when the online resource data is inaccessible via the network.

Abstract: Call spoofing in a Voice over Internet Protocol (IP) system may be detected and/or prevented. A device may receive a call request to initiate a VoIP call. The device may analyze marker information in the call request to determine whether the call request is valid. The device may also analyze the call request, based on call pattern information of a quantity of other calls, to determine whether the call request is suspicious; and complete the call based on the determination of whether the call request is valid and the determination of whether the call request is suspicious.

Abstract: A device receives, from a user device, a user-defined starting point associated with a path to be navigated by a user associated with the user device, a user-defined destination point associated with the path, and one or more user-defined intermediate points provided between the user-defined starting point and the user-defined destination point. The device also creates a user-defined path based on the user-defined starting point, the user-defined destination point, and the one or more user-defined intermediate points, and provides the user-defined path to the user device.

Abstract: An exemplary method includes a media content delivery system transmitting an enhanced media content transport stream that includes at least a single program stream that carries data representative of multiple video content programs. The enhanced media content transport stream further includes data specifying multiple video program identifiers for the multiple video content programs, each of the multiple video program identifiers configured to be used by an access subsystem that receives the enhanced media content transport stream to selectively access a different one of the multiple video content programs. In certain embodiments, the multiple video content programs comprise a first video content program including video data for a main media content program and a second video content program including video data for an advertisement. Corresponding methods and systems are also disclosed.

Abstract: Systems and methods for document control using public key encryption are provided. An interface program serves as a software interface between user applications used to create and access documents and a data storage system that stores the documents in an encrypted form. When a document is saved for the first time, information corresponding to the destruction of that document is obtained either from a user or in accordance with predefined criteria. The document is encrypted and stored with a pointer to an encryption key on a token/key server. When the document is subsequently accessed, the interface program will read the pointer and attempt to retrieve the key. If the key has expired in accordance with the destruction policy, the document is inaccessible. Otherwise, the document is decrypted using the key. Multiple documents may be saved according to the same destruction policy and even the same key, thereby greatly enhancing the ability to “destroy” documents regardless of their location with minimal process.
