  • Patent number: 10805810
Abstract: Traffic flows in a wireless network may be optimized based on a current state of the wireless network as well as based on information received from mobile devices attached to the wireless network. In one implementation, a method may include receiving, from mobile devices attached to the wireless network, values for parameters associated with applications that are executed by the mobile devices. The method may further include receiving, from network elements in the wireless network, information relating to a state of the wireless network; and determining based on the values for the parameters associated with the applications and based on the information relating to the state of the wireless network, modifications to an operation of the wireless network to optimize transmission of the traffic flows in the wireless network with respect to the parameters.

Abstract: A content platform can receive information identifying a plurality of exit times, in an on-demand content element, associated with respective user-initiated exit events. The plurality of exit times can be based on a time duration of the on-demand content element. The content platform can generate an exit time distribution based on the plurality of exit times, and can identify a maximum exit time density in the exit time distribution and a maximum exit time density gradient in the exit time distribution. The content platform can determine, using a machine-learning regression model, an end screen time in the on-demand content element based on the maximum exit time density and the maximum exit time density gradient. The content platform can generate an instruction to display an end screen user interface at the end screen time during playback of the on-demand content element.

  • Patent number: 10798562
Abstract: Systems and methods described herein enable differentiated policy enforcement for dual connectivity split bearer scenarios. A wireless station receives, from a core network associated with the wireless station, downlink packets directed to an end device that is using a dual-connectivity split bearer. The wireless station directs delivery of the downlink packets over different radio access networks (RANs) of the dual-connectivity split bearer. The wireless station logs a radio access technology (RAT)-type used to deliver each of the downlink packets and sends, based on the logging, a downlink RAT-type feedback report to a network device in the core network. The wireless station receives uplink packets from the end device using the dual-connectivity split bearer, marks each of the uplink packets with a RAT-type indicator, and forwards the marked packets to the network device in the core network.

  • Patent number: 10798745
Abstract: A user equipment (UE) device may determine its location with a high degree of precision, beyond the capability of other current methodologies. Specifically, a UE device may obtain High Precision (HIP) coordinates of its location based on Random Access Channel (RACH) messages that the UE device exchanges with multiple wireless stations. Using RACH messages to obtain HIP coordinates imposes little communication overhead or computational burden on the UE device and the network.

  • Patent number: 10798581
Abstract: A network device receiving subscription data for Internet of Things (IoT) devices for subscribing to an IoT device cellular network service, and receives configuration data for configuring the IoT device cellular network service for the IoT devices, where the configuration data identifies a first device location determining source and a second device location determining source. The network device initiates provisioning of the IoT device cellular network service for the one or more IoT devices, receives primary location data, generated by the first device location determining source, associated with a first IoT device, and receives secondary location data, generated by the second device location determining source, associated with the first IoT device. The network device determines one of a plurality of confidence levels associated with the first IoT device being located at a primary location based on one or more confidence thresholds, the primary location data, and the secondary location data.

  • Patent number: 10791157
Abstract: Some embodiments provide a multi-tenant over-the-top multicast solution that integrates the per user stream customizability of unicast with the large scale streaming efficiencies of multicast. The solution involves an application, different multicast groups streaming an event with different customizations, and a manifest file or metadata identifying the different groups and customizations. The solution leverages the different multicast groups in order to provide different time shifts in the event stream, different quality level encodings of the event stream, and different secondary content to be included with a primary content stream. The application configured with the manifest file or metadata dynamically switches between the groups in order to customize the experience for a user or user device on which the application executes. Switching from multicast to unicast is also supported to supplement available customizations and for failover.

  • Patent number: 10791029
Abstract: Techniques described herein may be used to condense a large quantity of Virtual Network Function (VNF) chains (that each correspond to a network service) into a much smaller quantity of VNF records; and extract any of the large quantity of VNF chains from the smaller quantity of network service records. This may be accomplished by assigning a Number (No.) of Services attribute and a Tier attribute into each VNF record. The No. of Services attribute and Tier attribute may enable the VNF records to reference one another such that the larger quantity of VNF chains may, in effect, be entirely represented by the much smaller quantity of VNF records, thereby conserving storage space, streamlining VNF chain management, and reducing the processing and memory capacity required to search, configure, and deploy virtual network services.

  • Patent number: 10791468
Abstract: A system determines an optimized number and placement of wireless stations based on predicted future demand scoring of end user devices. A computing device calculates a growth projection of mobile devices in a geographic region for a time period; calculates a visiting projection for a peak amount of mobile devices connected to wireless stations in the geographic area and their locations when connected to wireless stations within the time period; calculates an application-use projection for bandwidth use patterns of the mobile devices within the time period; and calculates a network impact projection for an amount bandwidth impact by the mobile devices at each of the wireless stations. The computing device generates a demand score for geographic units within the geographic region, based on the projections, and assigns, based on the demand score, one or more of the geographic units as placement locations for new wireless station during the time period.

  • Publication number: 20200304959
Abstract: A device connects to a standard channel of a multicast network based on entering a service area, and receives a service announcement (SA) file via the standard channel. The device parses the SA file to determine a list of services identified in the SA file, and receives a selection of a priority service from the list of services. The device updates a priority counter associated with the priority service based on the selection. The device receives, after the period of time, information indicating entry into the service area, and determines that the priority counter satisfies a threshold based on receiving the information indicating entry into the service area. The device automatically connects to a priority channel of the multicast network, associated with the priority service, based on the priority counter satisfying the threshold, and receives a priority SA file, associated with the priority service, via the priority channel.
