  • Patent number: 5779754
Abstract: A process for melting glass in a horseshoe-flame furnace including a rear, a forward and a lateral wall and a longitudinal axis comprising the steps of: introducing a charge into a region of the rear wall of the furnace; running the charge, in succession in a longitudinal direction, through a melting zone to completely melt the charge and form a glass bath, through a homogenization zone and then through a refining zone; evacuating the melted and refined glass into a region of the forward wall of the furnace; sending an air-fuel flame from a first region in the rear wall which is staggered with respect to the longitudinal axis of the furnace, evacuating smoke from a second region of that same rear wall essentially symmetrically to the first region with respect to the axis; periodically alternating the first and second regions; and sending at least one oxidized fuel flame above the refining zone from a point on the lateral wail adjacent to the second region which is situated opposite the refining zone.

  • Patent number: 5164134
Abstract: Packaging means such as a bottle, jar or other receptacle, having a sealing ring, as well as a process for manufacturing such a seal. These packaging means include containers especially of the type to be kept in stock and/or stored. The packaging means include at least a container and a lid, between which is arranged a sealing ring defining an internal space in relation to the outside of the packaging means, with the packaging means being capable of containing a product or any other substance whatsoever under conditions of vacuum or partial vacuum. The sealing ring includes means for bringing about communication between the internal space and the outside of packaging means, being blocked while the vacuum is being brought about and/or maintained and capable of being unblocked in order to facilitate opening the packaging means.

  • Patent number: 4751358
Abstract: A cooking receptacle is provided having a browning coating for microwave ovens, and a method of forming such a coating. Said coating, which is external, includes essentially a heating layer made from leadless enamel in which are incorporated electrically conducting elements in the form of a metal powder, this powder being intimately mixed with the enamel, generally in a proportion of 15 to 40% by weight; a protective layer of leadless enamel advantageously covers the heating layer. The layers are deposited on the external surface of the receptacle by silkscreen printing or by decalcomania or by a transfer method and they are subjected to baking at a temperature between 620.degree. and 800.degree. C. The metal powder is formed from at least one substance chosen from the electrically conducting metals such as zinc and the transition elements, the oxides of these metals, and mixtures of these substances.

  • Patent number: 4736846
Abstract: This one-piece packaging is made from a blank of foldable material and includes a top wall whose width is less than the width of the bottom wall, and is not greater than half the maximum transverse dimension of the articles. This width may, in the limit, be zero. As a result: at least a portion of the height of the front wall is sloping; the windows cut out in the front wall which have bottom portions that are narrower than the maximum transverse dimension of the bottom regions of the articles in order to retain the articles in the packaging also have top portions whose width is equal to the maximum transverse dimension of the top regions of the articles so that said top regions of the articles project as much as possible from said packaging; and the side end faces of the packaging which are optionally closed by walls are at least partially trapezoidal, and in said limit are at least partially triangular when said top wall is of zero width.

  • Patent number: 4640417
Abstract: The invention provides a display packing for glasses and similar articles, which may be folded flat and is formed from a single strip of material. Said strap of material is divided into sections for forming the vertical an horizontal side walls of the frame as well as partition walls the number of which depends on the number of articles disposed in the row, each article in the row being separated from the next one by a partition wall. Locking lugs are engaged in notches of the lower and upper end portions of the vertical partition walls so as to hold the assembly opened out.

  • Patent number: 4577367
Abstract: A device for fitting and locking a handle to the body of a kitchen utensil comprises an end piece formed on the lateral wall of the body of the utensil, and a housing provided in the connecting end of the handle and into which the end piece can be inserted with a loose fit. The locking of the handle to the end piece is effected by a pivoting piece and an associated actuating structure, both mounted in the housing, for causing the pivoting piece to pivot. The upper face of the end piece has a notch, the pivoting piece has an end curved in the shape of a nose for insertion into the notch of the end piece, and the actuating structure for the pivoting piece is adapted selectively to bring the curved end of the latter into or out of the notch so as to lock or unlock the pivoting piece in this position during fitting or removal of the handle. The locking force may be applied via a toggle joint, and an unlocking push button may further be provided to form a safety clamping mechanism.
