  • Patent number: 7286562
Abstract: The invention is concerned with improvements in full duplex Internet telephone systems with a system architecture having low latency and permitting voice communication with telephone to telephone or PC to telephone connections. The architecture permits dynamic packet-to-packet change in codec to adjust for Internet conditions. The voice port creates self-describing packet conditions so that the higher-level software of the system is independent of codec selection. In addition to adjusting the codec, the voice port has the capability of dynamically and concurrently selecting other factors such as the level of error correction redundancy, the packet size and packet bundling on a packet-to-packet basis. The invention further includes a technique to eliminate dead air spaces in the voice data transmission stream by speeding up or slowing down the data rate in the buffer while maintaining a constant pitch of speech.

  • Patent number: 7213167
Abstract: A mechanism for providing one or more passive state machines behaving in the same manner as an active state machine so that one of the passive machines will take over operation from the active machine if the active machine becomes inoperative. The active machine, in addition to responding to each excitation, sends the same excitation to a first passive machine, which accumulates the excitations and waits until the expiration of a first time T1 to “pseudo” respond to the excitation. That is, the first passive machine responds to excitations as does the active machine, but its responses are discarded.

  • Patent number: 7116637
Abstract: A method for diagnosing Voice-over-Broadband circuitry including an Integrated Access Device. The method includes receiving a request to initiate diagnosis, pulsing source voltages of tip and ring amplifiers in the circuitry, aggregating signal line noise resulting from the pulsing, analyzing the aggregated noise for hallmark indicia, and reporting findings of the analysis.

  • Patent number: 6982985
Abstract: A communication system includes a switching network and a wireless network. The switching network includes a first gateway for receiving a communication from a caller, a second gateway for establishing an external connection through which the communication can be routed, and a command center that allows the first and second gateway to make an internal connection. The wireless network includes a visited mobile switch center and a home location register. The visited mobile switch center generates routing information, receives the communication from the external connection of the switching network, and routes the communication to a wireless network subscriber. The home location register locates the visited mobile switch center, and passes the routing information from the visited mobile switch center to the command center of the switching network. The command center causes the external connection to be established based on the routing information.
