Publication number: 20200137526Abstract: A description of a user is estimated based on the context of a user's past and present locations. A disclosed data-processing system continually receives data points for each user that represent spatial and/or temporal events. These events represent, for example, presence of a person at a specific geographic location such as a geographic area or point of interest (POI). The data-processing system evaluates the received data points in relation to one or more of the geographic locations, yielding results that are also based on the demographic characteristics of each visited location and the commercial characteristics of each visited location. The data-processing system evaluates the data points also to determine patterns exhibited in each user's activity or inactivity, and patterns exhibited in the distance traveled and the type of travel. The data-processing system bases the user descriptions on the results of these evaluations.Type: ApplicationFiled: December 30, 2019Publication date: April 30, 2020Applicant: Verve Wireless, Inc.Inventor: David ROSENBERG

Patent number: 10523704Abstract: Some embodiments described herein relate to a method of defining and/or calculating an accuracy score for untrusted location data. The method can include receiving multiple signals including location data. Some or all of the signals may include untrusted location data. When a signal including location data is received, that location data can be stored, for example in a database. The accuracy score can be defined based on the number of entries in the database matching the received location data. If location data is statistically overrepresented in the database, it may be an indication that the location data has been assigned by an untrusted third party, rather than organically determined by the mobile communication device. Accordingly, a relatively low accuracy score indicating that the location data is synthetic can be defined when received location data matches a location that is statistically overrepresented in the database.Type: GrantFiled: February 5, 2015Date of Patent: December 31, 2019Assignee: Verve Wireless, Inc.Inventors: Mitri Abou-Rizk, Brian Crook, Eric M. Johnston, Gary Ng, Chris Nicotra

Patent number: 10425786Abstract: Some embodiments described herein relate to reverse geocoding using, for example, real estate parcel data. In some embodiments one or more location records can be received, for example, from a location record database associated with a real estate mapping service. Each location record can identify or otherwise be uniquely associated with a closed shape, such as a two-dimensional polygon, circle, or other boundary that can, for example, define the metes and bounds of a real estate parcel. Geolocation data that represents a location of a mobile communication device can also be received. The geolocation data can map to a location within a shape and the location record associated with that shape can be selected. When the selected location record corresponds to a residential location, household data can be associated with that location record and/or the mobile communication device.Type: GrantFiled: July 18, 2016Date of Patent: September 24, 2019Assignee: Verve Wireless, Inc.Inventors: Brian E. Publication number: 20180253777Abstract: A technique is disclosed for ranking venues and for providing a user with one or more of the ranked venues. To do so, a data processing system trains a model during a first, training sequence, by using a training dataset of past check-ins that were made by users visiting venues. The trained model, representing a learned hypothesis, represents venues that are ranked according to their relevance to users who are also represented by the model. During a second, run-time sequence, the system receives real-time geolocation data that represents users and generates a set of candidate venues for a user by determining venues that are nearby the geolocation of the user. The system then ranks the generated candidate venues by applying the learned hypothesis. One or more of the ranked venues can be provided to a user's wireless terminal, for example, where they can be presented as venue recommendations.Type: ApplicationFiled: October 4, 2017Publication date: September 6, 2018Applicant: Verve Wireless, Inc.Inventors: Cagatay Berk Kapicioglu, David Rosenberg
