Abstract: A method for preparing stents, with a stent blank subjected to a work process, in which the desired pattern is cut through the stent blank by evaporating the stent material with a diode-pumped fibre laser. The used fibre laser is preferably a picosecond laser having a minimum power of 20 W and a repetition frequency above 1 MHz.

Abstract: The invention relates to a spray dampening system in printing presses, comprising: a rotating roller (2); nozzles (3) facing the roller; a pressurized piping (11) for supplying water or other fluid to the nozzles; control valves (7), along with electrical actuators therefor, in association with each nozzle, said control valves including a closing and opening spindle (1). Said electrical actuators comprise: an adjustment rod (5) of some MSM material, having its first end in contact with the spindle (1) and its second end resting against a stationary base (10), a return element (12), as well as a coil assembly surrounding the adjustment rod for establishing a magnetic field (14) applied to the adjustment rod. The field intensity enables changing the adjustment rod length and setting a spindle position in the control valve for thus regulating the amount of water or fluid flowing through the nozzles (3) as a spray (8).
Abstract: The invention relates to an adjusting mechanism for zonal control of an ink blade (2) in respect of a ductor roller surface (5) in a printing press. The adjusting mechanism comprising a plurality of moving means (1) in contact with the ink blade and movable in a longitudinal direction (P1, P2) towards and away from said ductor roller. Each moving mean comprises at least one bar (6) of a shape memory material (SMM) and activating means (7) to provide e.g. a magnetic field strength (H±&Dgr;H) bar(s). A controlled electrical voltage/current (U, I) is fed into the activating means, whereupon a variable length (L±&Dgr;L) of said bar is determined for said adjustment.
