  • Patent number: 7427184
Abstract: A system and method of lifting and transporting a boat. A boat carrier has a chassis supported by wheels and a boat-carrying frame. The boat-carrying frame includes a plurality of outwardly-extending frame members for securing a boat during transit of the carrier and at least one lift assembly mounted thereon. The lift assembly includes at least one vertically moveable lift assembly arm extending away from the boat-carrying frame beyond the outwardly-extending frame members. The lift assembly arm is moveable between a lowered position whereby a boat may be placed on the lift assembly arm and a raised position aligned with one of the outwardly-extending frame members. The boat is placed on the lift assembly arm in the lowered position from a point outward of the outwardly-extending frame members and lifted with the lift assembly arm to the raised assembly arm position aligned with one of the outwardly-extending frame members.

  • Patent number: 7421971
Abstract: A rowing shoe system for use by a rower in a racing boat has a footboard adapted to be secured in a boat, a pair of shoe liners and a pair of shoe shells. The pair of shoe liners are sized to receive the feet of a rower, are made out of anti-microbial material, and have a flexible exterior surface and a flexible interior surface configured to fit over substantially the entire foot of the rower. The pair of shoe shells are detachably securable to the footboard in a rowing position and have an interior sized to receive the flexible shoe liners. The shoe shells have openings therein to ventilate the rower's feet, and the shoe liners are removable from the shoe shells. Abstract: Eight man rowing shells in lightweight and super heavyweight configurations have an elongated hull with a bow and stern and a smoothly tapered hull surface therebetween. The hull surfaces have particular cross-sections below the waterline at stations spaced along the hull waterline. Other parameters for both super heavyweight and lightweight hulls are provided such as waterline length, entry and exit angles, maximum beam, maximum draft, and metacentric height. In both configurations, the hull itself may be made of a laminate of a fiber composite skin over a core, such as a carbon fiber/honeycomb laminate, or of natural materials such as wood.
