  • Publication number: 20160189439
Abstract: A Tri-system Mobile Smartphone Application is provided with three major sub-system components: motor usage/monitoring (GPS based), vendor/marketing/location and social media/networking, designed to be used on a smartphone while engaging in outdoor motor sports. The vendor/marketing/location and social media/networking sub-systems are combined with methods for monitoring marine vessel movement in water for the purpose of monitoring mechanical usage, generating usage logs to recommend scheduled maintenance. Vessel origin position is monitored by recording geo-position information. When wireless device is within proximity of vessel, an installed application will monitor vessel position on water utilizing internet based map sets or stored maps. When a referenced device is introduced within a predetermined proximity, equivalent to GPS, timers are enabled and wait for coordinate movement consistent with vessel movement and monitoring begins.

  • Patent number: 4408784
Abstract: A connector assembly for connecting a production casing (38) to a subsea wellhead (10) from a tensioned leg platform. A funnel (46) external to the wellhead, guides and aligns the conductor during installation and places a limit on the angular deflection of the conductor relative to the wellhead. The conductor includes at its lower end a tieback joint (44) which is pulled down, aligned, and sealed against the casing hanger (24) with a floating bushing (64) which also preloads the seal (66). The flexibility of the tieback joint (44) in relation to the angular deflection permitted is such that the surfaces of the seal (66) will not move; and preferably the preload on the seal is not removed.

  • Patent number: 4382421
Abstract: An apparatus for coating the interior of a tube (10) with fusible particles entrained in a flow of air. A measured charge is placed in an unpacked condition within a container (18) temporarily isolated (20) from a first end of the tube. A vacuum is established in the tube and in a tank (34) connected to the second end of the tube. A quick-opening valve (20) thereafter places the container in fluid communication with the first end of the tube.

  • Patent number: 4272109
Abstract: A ring gasket is retained in position on a pipe connector flange with the ring gasket properly positioned for sealing engagement and loading between opposed circular grooves in the flange and a mating flange or member. The ring gasket is supported, in some forms, at its outer periphery by a member connected to one of the connector parts between opposed abutting surfaces of the connector parts when they are connected. The ring gasket is increased in size, from a standard, to compensate for the standoff, so that the ring gasket is properly loaded. The support for the ring gasket, in another form, includes a direct connection between the ring gasket and the flange or support means, and in other forms, the ring gasket is supported at its inner periphery, and can not affect abutment between the flanges. The ring gasket has peripheral, oppositely tapered sealing surfaces loaded into sealing engagement with opposing companion surfaces forming the grooves in the flanges upon making up of the connection.

  • Patent number: 4223920
Abstract: A manifold unit is connected to a running tool and pipe and run into position in a receptacle on a subsea template or platform to establish a flow path between fluid passages in the receptacle. Fluid supplied through the running pipe forces locking elements into locking engagement with the receptacle and the unit is forced into seating engagement in the receptacle to make a seal between the unit and the flow passages. The unit is retrievable by engaging another pipe in the unit and supplying pressure to release the locking elements.

  • Patent number: 4209193
Abstract: A stab type connector for large diameter pipe has a pin structure and a box structure held in interconnected relation by a locking and loading ring between a circumferential shoulder in the pin structure and a circumferential shoulder on a threaded locking and loading sleeve of the box structure with confronting circumferential pin structure and box structure seating surfaces loaded into engagement. The coengaged and loaded sleeve shoulder and ring and coengaged pin and box structure surfaces transmit axial forces through the connector and resist bending. The connector is useful as a conductor pipe or pile connector.

  • Patent number: 4180349
Abstract: An underwater template has one or a plurality of pile housings through which piles are driven into the earth at the floor of the water to fix the template in place by forging the pile into grooves in the housing. The forging operations are performed by a rotary cold forge tool with expansible rollers, the tool being rotatable by a running string of drill pipe guided by a swivel which lands on and is centered by the pile, or the forging is done by explosives confined between seals within the pile section.

  • Patent number: 4168852
Abstract: A ring gasket is retained in position on a pipe connector flange with the ring gasket properly positioned for sealing engagement and loading between opposed circular grooves in the flange and a mating flange or member. The ring gasket is supported on one of the connector parts by a spacer ring or by a portion of the flange which effects a standoff between the connector parts when they are connected. In the case of a separate spacer ring, it is connected to the flange or supported adjacent to the groove by a support member adapted to be hand-held. The support for the ring gasket includes elements frictionally engaging or biting into the outer periphery of the ring gasket. The ring gasket has outer peripheral, oppositely tapered sealing surfaces loaded into sealing engagement with opposing companion surfaces forming the grooves in the flanges upon making up of the connection.

  • Patent number: 4154552
Abstract: A subsea template is installed on a level base provided by lowering and landing on the floor of the sea a container to which is supplied a quantity of fluent, settable material which flows to form a level upper surface on which the template is landed. The template is fixed in place by setting a pile into the floor of the sea. The receptacle is a guide base anchoring guidelines on which the template is lowered after hardening of the fluent material, or, in the case of a guidelineless installation, the base and template are lowered together and the template raised above the base during setting of the fluent material and then lowered onto the level base.

  • Patent number: 4153281
Abstract: A misalignment connector has a pair of hubs providing internal, opposed spherical surfaces loaded into engagement with an internal, metal sealing ring having a spherical, outer sealing surface, the hubs being constrained together to maintain loading of the seal ring over a range of angles of misalignment. The internal seal ring is initially retained in position with respect to one of the hubs and is shiftable for proper sealing and loading engagement by the hubs over the range of permissible misalignment. The metal-to-metal seal between the hubs and the seal ring is backed up by a resilient seal. The metal seal ring has an outer peripheral projection forming a connection for the retainer, and the projection is engageable by the hubs to angularly shift the seal ring during assembly.

  • Patent number: 4153278
Abstract: A misalignment connector for large pipelines, conductor pipes or the like, includes an internal, metal seal ring having an external spherical periphery which is axially and circumferentially loaded between opposed internal spherical surfaces of connector structures which are operable by hydraulic piston and cylinder means to be interconnected over a range of angular misalignment. The internal sealing ring is preloaded when the connector parts are secured together. Initially, the internal sealing ring is supported in or nearly in engagement with one of the companion spherical surfaces of the connector parts for proper engagement and angular motion upon the interconnection of the connector parts over the permissible angular range of misalignment. The connector is made up by the application of fluid pressure to the actuator cylinder and piston means after the connector parts have been stabbed together. Radially shiftable locking elements are wedged towards one another by the action of the actuator cylinders.

  • Patent number: 4133558
Abstract: A misalignment connector for large pipelines includes an internal, metal seal ring having an external spherical surface which is axially and circumferentially loaded between opposed internal spherical metal surfaces of pipe connector hubs having parts engaged with holding means having spherical surfaces enabling the connector to be made up with the pipe connector hubs disposed over a range of angular misalignment and with the sealing ring loaded axially and inwardly when the connector body parts are secured together by the holding means to prevent relaxation of the preload on the sealing ring. The metal sealing ring is initially supported on one of the hubs by means enabling relative angular motion of the sealing ring as it is loaded between misaligned hubs. The hubs are provided with thrust surfaces enabling them to be initially preloaded against the sealing ring by a loading tool.
