  • Patent number: 7686455
Abstract: Light in primary colors RGB modulated in a first modulation optical system is transmitted through a relay lens (36) and further divided into a P-polarized light and an S-polarized light by a PS separation wire grid (37). The S-polarized light is transmitted through a wavelength spectral filter (39) to select red/green/blue light components R1, G1, B1 of 615, 515, 450 nm in wavelength, which are then modulated by a Y1 device (44). The P-polarized light is transmitted through a wavelength spectral filter (46) to select red/green/blue light components R2, G2, B2 of 650, 550, 475 nm in wavelength, which are then modulated by a Y2 device (51). The 3 -primary color lights modulated by the Y1/Y2 devices (44), (51) are combined with each other at a PS composite wire grid (55) to project a synthetic light on a screen.

Abstract: A projection type display device is provided to display high quality images. In the device, a WB-PBSW 2 is inclined to liquid crystal display devices 1r, 1b, 1g and has wire grids 2a parallel with a first substrate 11. One of directions of projection lines obtained by projecting the wire grids 2a on a second substrate 12 vertically, the one direction being directed to a direction where one extension surface of the polarization spectroscopic surface intersects with another extension surface of the second substrate when the one direction is turned in the counterclockwise direction by 90°, is defined as X-axis. If the liquid crystal display devices 1r, 1b, 1g are a type of first twist (normal twist), device reference line vectors are located at 225°±10° in the counterclockwise direction in view from the first substrate 11. In case of a second twist (reverse twist) type, the device reference line vectors are located at 315°±10° in the counterclockwise direction in view from the first substrate 11.

  • Publication number: 20100066752
Abstract: A liquid crystal panel displays an image from image signals. A backlight device is disposed on the back side of the liquid crystal panel, and is divided into a plurality of regions. The backlight device comprises light sources in each of the regions. The light sources are positioned to emit light onto the liquid crystal panel. A histogram detector detects an image signal gradation distribution for each region and to produce a histogram therefrom. An image gain calculator calculates a gain from the detected gradation distribution of the histogram detector, and controls light emission from each light source in each region of the backlight device. A light emission luminance calculator controls the light emission luminance of each light source based on a maximum luminance of the light sources and based on an inverse number of the gain calculated in the image gain calculator.

  • Patent number: 7677355
Abstract: On one surface of a piece of wooden sheet, a cloth or paper is adhered to make an adhered sheet. An approximately V-shaped notch is provided on the adhered sheet, the adhered sheet is wetted to be softened, and a lubricant which acts to keep water is impregnated thereinto. Edge portions of the notch are overlapped, and the adhered sheet is tentatively molded in an approximately horn shape by a first hot press molding. The adhered sheet is then dried, impregnated with thermosetting resin, and half-dried. The adhered sheet is subject to a second hot press molding. A moisture-proof agent is applied on the adhered sheet, a center hole for a voice coil and periphery are removed to make a speaker diaphragm having a predetermined dimension and shape.
