  • Patent number: 4415061
Abstract: A portable step assembly for attachment to a tree or pole includes a generally L-shaped climbing member and a separate, headed fastener member. The fastener member is removably insertable through a mounting portion on the climbing member after which the climbing member is employed as a crank tool to drive the fastener member into the tree. A specially configured socket recess or cavity within the mounting portion captively receives the screw member head and serves two primary purposes. First, it allows a one-handed push upon the assembly during the initial drive of the fastener member and secondly, dual sets of shoulders within the socket cavity form positive abutments to screw or unscrew the assembly respectively during its attachment or removal from a tree.

  • Patent number: 4401097
Abstract: A compound bow includes improved cam members eccentrically mounted upon the bow limb tips and each provided with a main body section having a curved lever section extending outwardly therefrom. A groove or track in the periphery of the main body section extends about the outer periphery of the lever section to provide a continuous over-lapping track disposed in a single vertical plane. A bowstring end is disposed within each lever section track while each main body section track receives the cam end of a tension cable. Adjustable or replaceable elements allow for the ready synchronization of the two cam members as well as variation of the bow draw weight.

  • Patent number: 4390156
Abstract: A compression mold includes punch and cavity components fabricated from initially flat sheets of relatively thin metal. The sheets of each component are shaped, assembled and joined to provide box-like components defining mating mold surfaces yielding molded parts which may be straight or laterally and/or vertically curved. The hollow interior of the two components allows for the circulation therethrough of an appropriate heat transfer medium to permit molding of either thermosetting or thermoplastic compounds.

  • Patent number: 4372285
Abstract: The ends of a compound bow tension cable are positively and adjustably anchored by an attachment bracket pivotally mounted upon the bow limb tips adjacent the eccentric wheels. The attachment bracket includes two somewhat similar components, elongated in nature, with one component pivotally attached relative the bow limb tip and the other component having a tension cable end fixed thereto. The two components are assembled in an overlapping arrangement with the juxtaposed faces thereof provided with mating adjustment elements such as transversely disposed teeth or serrations whereupon after selecting the appropriate relative longitudinal relationship between the two components, a releasable fastener is tightened to retain the mating adjustment elements in a fixed disposition insuring a rigid bracket member maintaining the selected tension upon the attached cable end.

  • Patent number: 4370972
Abstract: Cable ends of a compound bow are adjustably and securely anchored by an attachment member pivotally mounted adjacent the bow eccentric wheels. The attachment member body is of substantially constant thickness and includes a plurality of openings therethrough parallel to the opposite planar faces of the body and angularly offset relative to one another to define a circuitous cable pathway. An end section of the cable is secured by insertion of a threaded lock device through an edge wall of the body into an enlarged transverse anchor bore allowing radial distortion of crimping of the cable end section.

  • Patent number: 4368718
Abstract: A compound bow includes improved cam members eccentrically mounted upon the bow limb tips and including a bowstring segment adjacent a tension cable segment. The bowstring segment is provided with a main body section having a curved lever section extending outwardly therefrom. A groove or track is formed in the periphery of the curved lever section while a parallel groove or track is provided in the outer periphery of the tension cable segment. A bowstring end is disposed within each lever section track while each tension cable segment track receives the cam end of a tension cable. Adjustable or replaceable elements allow for the ready synchronization of the two cam members as well as variation of the bow draw weight. The two cam segments may be constructed either as a unitary member or as separate, angularly adjustable components.

  • Patent number: 4352769
Abstract: A plurality of reinforced plastic parts are simultaneously molded from separate bundles of resin impregnated strands wound about individual frame sections of a substantially planar frame assembly. A loading station includes a dual-acting elongated carrier engaging the multi-sectioned frame assembly and initially rotatable to wind the bundle of strands thereon. Subsequent reciprocation of the carrier delivers the wound frame assembly to a molding station provided with a plurality of mating pairs of mold sections and having displaceable frame supporting and bundle clamping assemblies for engaging the wound frame assembly and severing opposite ends of the bundles as the mold sections close within the individual frame sections. Upon opening of the mold sections, molded parts and the empty frame assembly are subsequently shuttled from the molding station by a removal station provided with a reciprocating elongated carrier axially aligned with the center line of the molding station and the loading station carrier.

  • Patent number: 4344410
Abstract: A gas-fired gun having a handgrip defining a chamber for receiving a gas-containing cartridge and a lever coupled to the handgrip at its lower end for pivotal movement between positions opening and closing the chamber. The lower end of the lever carries a seat on opposite sides of which are first and second cam surfaces. The first cam surface cams the cartridge into an operative position in the chamber with its upper end in engagement with a cartridge piercing mechanism upon movement of the lever from the first to the second position. The seat enables the cartridge to back off the piercing mechanism when the lever is in the second position to improve the gas flow from the cartridge into the gas-fired gun. The second cam surface displaces the cartridge from the chamber upon movement of the lever from the second position toward its first position.

  • Patent number: 4287867
Abstract: An archery bow having a riser capable of being gripped by an archer from which is centilevered upper and lower spring members. Bow limbs are pivotably suspended from the free end of each spring member at the midsection thereof so that each limb hangs on the archer's side of the bow. A bow string is attached to upwardly extended tips of the limbs. Cams, which are rotatably supported from the top and bottom sections of the riser, are connected to the lower portion of each limb by means of a control cable that is reeved to the working profile of the cam. One end of the control cable is secured to the base of the associated limb while the opposite end is secured to the limb's midsection to hold the control cable taut against the working surface of the associated cam. Accordingly, as the bow is drawn, the pull weight delivered to the bow string is controlled by the cam system to provide maximum pull weight at an intermediate draw position.

  • Patent number: 4147152
Abstract: A projectile is propelled from the gun when a valve that controls the gas storage chamber of the gun is momentarily unseated, thereby admitting a short burst or charge of gas into the space immediately behind the projectile. The barrel that confines and controls the projectile during its movement out of the gun is itself driven rearwardly by spring action to accomplish unseating of the valve through an actuating stem at the rear of the barrel, and during such rearward movement of the barrel, the projectile is carried therewith so as to reduce the volume of the space behind the projectile in which the gas may expand before acting upon the projectile.

  • Patent number: 4064863
Abstract: An arrow rest for an archery blow includes a base plate having a rear surface attachable to a bow side and a front surface provided with a vertical rib having an outer surface spaced from the plate front surface and engageable by the lateral periphery of an arrow shaft. A vertically disposed flap having a depth substantially greater than its width, of resilient or elastomeric composition, having a rear base portion attached to the plate front surface and a main body section extending outwardly and forwardly in a curved manner and adapted to support the lower periphery of an arrow shaft. The top of the flap is provided with a concave surface serving to cradle the arrow shaft and biases the arrow shaft so as to force it into engagement with the rib's outer surface both during the draw and release of the arrow as the flap body is deflected rearwardly and forwardly respectively, from its normal at-rest position.
