  • Patent number: 4393721
Abstract: Apparatus for measuring fluid flow comprising a tubular body (4) within which is supported an insert (5) having on its outer surface a helical formation of crests (6) and troughs (7). Between the body (4) and the insert (5) there is a fluid flow path (8). A transducer (20) detects fluctuations in fluid flow characteristics in the path (8), and a resultant signal is transmitted via amplifier (21), filter (22) and frequency counter (23) to a display (24) calibrated in terms of rate of fluid flow along the path (8).

  • Patent number: 4184695
Abstract: Flutter and weave instability of a motorcycle front fork assembly is substantially reduced by achieving an overall lateral stiffness of the fork assembly mounts of at least 1000 lbs./in. This is done by providing an assembly including a pair of fork legs, each having a minimum flexural rigidity of 10.8.times.10.sup.6 lbs.-in.sup.2 ; a pair of rotational bearings attached to the base of each leg, each bearing carrying a suspension link having a minimum flexural rigidity of 3.8.times.10.sup.6 lbs.-in.sup.2 ; a wheel spindle having a minimum rigidity of 1.9.times.10.sup.6 lbs.-in.sup.2 ; and resilient suspension means. The fork legs are substantially parallel to each other and extend downwardly from a steering head. The rotational bearings have negligible radial clearance. The suspension links extend forwardly from the rotational bearings and are mounted to the associated leg of each. The wheel spindle is rigidly clamped and extends between the free ends of the suspension links.

  • Patent number: 4123768
Abstract: A method and apparatus for accurately photographically recording three-dimensional models of dental arch profiles in a plurality of photographic views taken in centric occlusion and in apposition. The method involves photographing such models in centric occlusion in a plurality of views obtained by rotating the model about an axis normal to the occlusal reference plane and lying in the mid-saggital plane substantially 15 mm. posterior of the inter-canine line. The apparatus comprises a supporting bench bearing a mounting platform for the model and a camera holder spaced from one another by a predetermined substantially constant distance.
