    Abstract: A work tip for an ultrasonic surgical device has a distal end incorporating an upward projection that extends from about 10 to about 50% of the inner diameter of the hollow tip. An angled front face of the tip leads to an upper edge of the projection, which, under ultrasonic vibration assists in the break-up and emulsification of surgically displaced material, which is removed by vacuum through a passage in the work tip.
