Patent number: 9726362Abstract: The present disclosure includes an apparatus and method relating to LED fixtures having an LED module capable of operating at a temperature. The LED module is also capable of being operated within a desired temperature range having an upper limit and a lower limit. A fan is operable for cooling the LED module when the temperature of the LED module approaches the upper limit. A heater is operable for heating the LED module when the temperature of the LED module approaches the lower limit. A heat sink may be in thermal communication with the LED module such that the fan may cool and the heater may heat the heat sink. The controller may also be configured to selectively activate the heater and the fan. The controller may also be in electrical communication with a temperature sensor which is in thermal communication with the LED module such that the controller may read the temperature of the LED module. The controller may activate the fan and/or the heater depending on the temperature of the LED module.Type: GrantFiled: January 8, 2015Date of Patent: August 8, 2017Assignee: VITEC VIDEOCOM INC.Inventors: Richard Allen Rosen, Joshua Alexander Forbes

Patent number: 6104707Abstract: An apparatus for electrical line communication includes a transmitter, a receiver, a modem, and a coupler at each of two or more locations along an electrical line. The couplers have capacitive circuits serially connected with an air-core transformer. The capacitive circuits resonate with the air-core transformer at a preselected frequency. A novel phase linear coupler eliminates noise and is matched resistively to the characteristic impedance of the line at the preselected frequency, which linearizes communication on the line and allows high speed data and voice communication over long distances.Type: GrantFiled: March 14, 1997Date of Patent: August 15, 2000Assignee: Videocom, Inc.Inventor: Charles Abraham

Patent number: 6014386Abstract: A communication network and method, including an information signal line which carries a plurality of selectable information signals. Electrical lines run throughout a building, with electrical outlets connected to the electrical line. An electrical line distribution panel connects the information signal line and the electrical line for distributing the selectable information signals over the electrical line to the location of a given electrical outlet. Dielectric-core couplers which are impedance-matched with the electrical line are connected to the electrical outlets. At least one communication station is connected to a dielectric-core coupler for receiving the selectable information signals.Type: GrantFiled: July 12, 1996Date of Patent: January 11, 2000Assignee: Videocom, Inc.Inventor: Charles Abraham

Patent number: 5818127Abstract: An apparatus for electrical line communications using FM video modulation, includes FM video modulation circuits and an impedance matching coupler at each of two or more locations along a pair of lines. The impedance matching couplers provide impedance matching, utilizing an air-core preselected frequency bands, sufficient to allow low-loss transmission of frequency modulated video signals. The coupler further eliminates noise and is matched resistively to the characteristic impedance of the line at the preselected frequency bands. A transmitter, receiver and associated circuits may also be provided at each location along the lines. The FM video modulation circuits, in combination with phase linear coupling techniques, provide for hi-fidelity video transmission over existing electrical lines, such as residential AC power wiring. In addition, a coupler with solid state impedance matching is provided.Type: GrantFiled: June 27, 1997Date of Patent: October 6, 1998Assignee: Videocom, Inc.Inventor: Charles Abraham

Patent number: 5625863Abstract: A cable television/video distribution and selection system for distributing video signals throughout a home or building over in-wall electrical wiring. A remote device is connected to a display monitor or television set and also to the electrical wiring through an electrical outlet. The remote device is comprised of a first video signal selector device which is used by a user to generate a selection signal which corresponds to the cable television channel which the user has selected. The remote device also includes a transmitter/receiver for sending the selection signal-over the electrical wiring to a tuner and then receiving the video signal (television station) from the tuner. The transmitter/receiver matches the characteristic impedance of the electrical wiring and is tuned to a predetermined frequency band. The distribution device is connected to the electrical wiring and also to a video signal source, such as a cable television cable entering the building.Type: GrantFiled: September 12, 1995Date of Patent: April 29, 1997Assignee: VideoCom, Inc.Inventor: Charles Abraham
