Abstract: A plastic louver which is to be swingably mounted in a shutter frame has a generally hollow louver body with a mouth at each end of the louver body. An end cap is fitted to each end of the louver body. Each end cap has an insert part which slides into the mouth and a face part which is exposed at the end of the louver body. The face part includes surrounding flashing which locates against without completely covering the mouthwall around the mouth. The flashing is of a size to provide sufficient strength to hold the face part of the end cap from pushing into the mouth of the louver body.
Abstract: A plastic shutter level is formed by a cap assembly which fits into the bottom of a vertical stile of the shutter. The cap assembly includes a cap body and an adjustable member which threads into the cap body. The adjustable member has a cam shaped bottom face which cams over the shutter frame to provide an automatic leveling adjustment of the shutter when in its closed position.

Abstract: A shutter louver control bar which is made from a resilient plastic material includes an elongated bar member with a plurality of louver attachment members spaced from one another lengthwise along the bar member. Each attachment member, which normally assumes a louver attachment position, and which is moveable to a louver insertion position, has a leg with base leg part extending from the bar member, an outer leg part extending from and aligned with the base leg part and a head portion transverse to both the outer leg part and the base leg part when the attachment member is in the louver attachment position. The outer leg part is more flexible than and bendable relative to the base leg part which enables the attachment member to be moved to the louver insertion position where the head portion of the attachment member is at least somewhat generally aligned with the base part while remaining at generally transverse of the outer leg part of the attachment member.
Abstract: A plastic louver for a shutter comprises a main louver body with end caps which are made separately from the louver body. The louver body before receiving the end caps has open ends, each of which is defined by a surrounding mouth wall and each end cap has an end face which is bordered by an outside edge wall of the end cap. The end caps are fitted into the louver ends such that the outside edge walls of the end caps are positioned interiorly of the louver end mouth walls. This construction gives the plastic louver a one piece wooden look.
