  • Publication number: 20240149601
Abstract: Multi-layered revealable substrates and methods of producing and/or using said substrates are disclosed herein and comprise a first layer of a first opacifying material, a first color material disposed on a first side of the first layer of the first opacifying material, wherein the first layer of the first opacifying material covers the first color material, and a second layer of a second opacifying material disposed on a side of the first color material that is located opposite with respect to the first layer of the first opacifying material. The first opacifying material is configured to, upon application of first predetermined energy, change from the opaque state to a transparent state to reveal the first color material underneath the first opacifying material, and the second opacifying material is configured to, upon application of second different predetermined energy, change from the opaque state to a transparent state.

  • Patent number: 11760117
Abstract: Revealable substrates and methods include an opacifying layer having a plurality of irregular and/or odd-shaped opaque polymer particles defining voids therebetween. At least part of the opacifying layer may be induced to become transparent, for example, by collapsing at least some of the voids to reduce or eliminate internal reflection of light in the opacifying layer. Upon rendering transparent the portion(s) of the opacifying layer, a color material (e.g., ink) disposed underneath the opacifying layer is revealed and/or viewable therethrough.

  • Patent number: 10427440
Abstract: Systems and method provide a reveal substrate having a) an opaque polymer sensitive to at least one first application of at least one selected from heat, pressure and light, said opaque polymer becoming transparent upon being subjected to the at least one first application, and b) a bottom substrate layer having one or more colored areas on a top surface thereof, said bottom substrate layer being disposed such that the one or more colored areas are obscured by the opaque polymer prior to being subjected to the at least one first application and are revealed after at least one portion of the opaque polymer is subjected to the at least one first application.

  • Patent number: 10384484
Abstract: Disclosed is a reveal substrate comprising: a) a top substrate layer comprising an opaque polymer sensitive to application of heat or pressure, and becoming transparent upon being heated to a predetermined temperature or subjected to a predetermined pressure, and b) a bottom substrate layer having one or more colored areas on a top surface thereof, disposed such that said one or more colored areas are obscured by the opaque polymer prior to being heated to the predetermined temperature or subjected to the predetermined pressure, and are revealed subsequent thereto, wherein: each of the one or more colored areas comprises at least two different colors, and comprises a two-dimensional matrix formed by a plurality of color blocks, each one of the plurality of color blocks having only one color, and the color blocks are arranged to have a repeating color pattern. Alternatively the top substrate layer comprises an opaque material which can be induced by, e.g., UV, to become transparent.
