Patent number: 7143134Abstract: The present invention provides a system and method for integrating one or more electronic transcription systems (12) having sessions providing data on a network (18) wherein real-time, two-way interactive access to the data by one or more remote users to the system is provided. In particular, the system and method provides one or more electronic transcription systems operably connected such that one or more users can access one or more of the electronic transcription systems. By networking the one or more electronic transcription systems and decoupling the processes of recording a particular transcription session, storing the data from the session on a network, and accessing the data, a wider range of control, access, and utilization of the electronic transcription systems can be accomplished.Type: GrantFiled: June 1, 2001Date of Patent: November 28, 2006Assignee: Virtual Ink CorporationInventors: Joseph Petrie, Yonald Chery, Matthew Gray, Christopher Cacioppo, Christopher Leonardo, Jeffrey Peden

Patent number: 6310615Abstract: A method and apparatus for transcribing composite images. In one embodiment, a method comprises projecting a first image onto a surface, wherein a first coordinate system defines positions within the first image and a second coordinate system defines positions on the surface. The method further comprises forming a second image on the surface by using a stylus, and recording the formation of the second image relative to the first image by periodically detecting the position of the stylus relative to the second coordinate system by receiving and processing signals transmitted from the stylus. The method also comprises translating the position of the stylus relative to the second coordinate system to a position relative to the first coordinate system, and storing the composite image comprising the first image and the second image as machine-readable data.Type: GrantFiled: September 21, 2000Date of Patent: October 30, 2001Assignee: Virtual Ink CorporationInventors: Richard C. Davis, Yonald Chery, Andrew Kelley, III, William P. Moyne, Matthew D. Verminski

Patent number: 6292180Abstract: An assembly for mounting an ultrasound transmitter is provided. The assembly comprises an assembly body having a proximal end, a distal end and perimeters which are perpendicular to a longitudinal axis of the assembly body. The assembly body includes a proximal mount section with a proximal outer perimeter and a proximal inner perimeter which is smaller than the proximal outer perimeter. The assembly body also includes a distal mount section with a distal outer perimeter and a distal inner perimeter which is smaller than the distal outer perimeter. A loop shaped ultrasound transducer abuts the proximal mount section and the distal mount section.Type: GrantFiled: June 30, 1999Date of Patent: September 18, 2001Assignee: Virtual Ink CorporationInventor: Peter T. Patent number: 6104387Abstract: A system is provided for recording writing performed on a surface. The system includes a stylus having a housing and a writing element; two or more detectors which may be permanently or removably affixed to a writing surface; and a processing unit. The stylus and detectors are used in combination to detect the position of the stylus on the writing surface relative to the detectors based on a time of flight of a ranging medium propagated between the stylus and detectors. The relative position of the stylus is determined at multiple times during which the stylus is being employed in order to record the writing on the surface.Type: GrantFiled: May 14, 1998Date of Patent: August 15, 2000Assignee: Virtual Ink CorporationInventors: Yonald Chery, Andrew Kelley, III, William P. Moyne, Matthew D. Verminski, Manuel Perez, Peter Lee
