  • Patent number: 8386343
Abstract: A system for managing electronic receipts is provided. According to one aspect, the system includes a portable device, a base device, a user device and an electronic receipts administration system. The electronic receipts administration system provides the base device with the appropriate data to allow the base device to generate, store and manage electronic receipts accordingly. A user uses the portable device to conduct a transaction with the base device. The base device uses a variety of information to generate an electronic receipt for the transaction. Such information includes, for example, information stored on the portable device, information stored locally on the base device and information stored on another device such as an electronic cash register. The electronic receipt is then stored on the portable device. The user device allows the user to subsequently retrieve the electronic receipt for management purposes.

  • Patent number: 8381995
Abstract: A payment card with a display and/or dynamic magnetic stripe that operates using power received from an electro-magnetic/RF signal, without the need for incorporating a battery within the payment card. In one example, a payment card includes a receiver for receiving an external electro-magnetic signal and converting it to an electrical signal for powering the payment card; a CPU coupled with the electrical signal of the receiver; a display (i.e., a persistent display) for displaying data, wherein the display receives power based on the electrical signal from the receiver; and a dynamic magnetic stripe storing magnetically readable data, wherein the dynamic magnetic stripe receives power based on the electrical signal from the receiver. Responsive to the electro-magnetic signal received by the payment card, the data displayed on the display and stored in the dynamic magnetic stripe is changed. Methods relating to a payment card are also disclosed.

  • Patent number: 8375441
Abstract: Embodiments of the invention provide a portable consumer device configured to store dynamic authentication data in memory. The portable consumer device also includes an interface for transmitting data to and receiving power from an external device. The dynamic authentication data is read from the memory by a read-write device located on the portable consumer device. The authentication data is updated and the updated data may be written into memory using the read-write device. In some embodiments, an authentication value read from the memory may be used to generate another authentication value based on an algorithm. The portable consumer device is further configured to transmit authentication data to an external device. The process of reading, updating, generating, transmitting, and rewriting the authentication data may occur each time external power is provided to the portable consumer device via the interface.

  • Patent number: 8359580
Abstract: A system for tracking the testing of a set of software modification projects in an install plan provides a centralized project database where the testers can update their progress of testing software modification projects as they perform the tests. The central database advantageously eliminates the need to contact individual testers of each and every project every time a status report needs to be generated. Instead, a manager can automatically generate status reports which contain the testing progress of particular projects in real-time to more accurately monitor what projects are on track and what projects may be falling behind schedule.

  • Patent number: 8359474
Abstract: A system and method configured to provide secure Personal Identification Number (PIN) based authentication is disclosed. A passcode or PIN associated with a customer value card can be securely authenticated by an issuer prior to authorizing payment. An Access Control Server (ACS) can receive the PIN or passcode from a customer via a secure connection over a public network. The ACS can generate an encrypted PIN and can communicate the encrypted PIN to a remote issuer for authentication. The ACS can use one or more hardware security modules to generate the encrypted PIN. The hardware security modules can be emulated in software or implemented in hardware. The system can be configured such that the PIN is not exposed in an unencrypted form in a communication link or in hardware other than the originating customer terminal.
