Patent number: 6276800Abstract: A device for imaging a wavefront to determine the optical properties of an eye includes a light source for directing an input light beam into the eye. Corrective optics focus this input beam onto a substantially circular area on the retina for reflection back through the eye as a return light beam from a point source. A shearing plate is used to introduce a phase disturbance into the return light beam and it includes at least one pattern that is positioned to determine phase shifts from the phase disturbance that was introduced into the return light beam. A computer is then used to create the wavefront image from these phase shifts.Type: GrantFiled: November 24, 2000Date of Patent: August 21, 2001Assignee: Eyetech Vision, Inc.Inventor: Phillip C. Patent number: 6270208Abstract: An ink reservoir, for supplying ink to at least one inkjet print head, containing partitions which divide the volume of ink in the reservoir into sub-volumes, which significantly reduce, or eliminate, pressure fluctuations which arise as a result of acceleration of the ink reservoir. Each sub-volume is connected to adjacent sub-volumes via pressure equilibration passages. Lower pressure equilibration passages ensure equal ink height within all sub-volumes, following the discharge of ink from supply outlets and upper pressure equilibration passages ensure equal air pressure above all sub-volumes. A further as aspect involves a reservoir supplying print heads where planes, substantially perpendicular to the primary direction of motion, intersect corresponding reservoir supply outlets and print head supply inlets in order to eliminate supply line pressure fluctuations. A combination of the two aspects eliminate both reservoir and supply line pressure fluctuations.Type: GrantFiled: November 16, 1999Date of Patent: August 7, 2001Assignee: Scitex Vision Ltd.Inventor: Ofer Ben-Zur

Patent number: 6268923Abstract: An optical method and system for measuring three-dimensional surface topography by providing high resolution contour measurements of an object using interferometric methods. The invention utilizes co-sight detector technology to provide at least three independent images of exactly the same object location, with a known fringe pattern optically introduced to each of the images. Each of the fringe patterns have a known phase difference relative to the phase appearing on each of the other images. Furthermore, the images have the same perspective relative to the object and may be collected simultaneously. This simultaneous collection of multiple phase images allows very high speed 3D data generation. Previous limitations of phase shift technology such as sample motion and vibration can be eliminated. The method may use continuous or strobed illumination.Type: GrantFiled: October 7, 1999Date of Patent: July 31, 2001Assignee: Integral Vision, Inc.Inventors: Mark A. Michniewicz, Matthew P. Frazer

Patent number: 6267052Abstract: A method of imaging a substrate is disclosed, the method consisting of applying a first layer to the substrate to form a “print pattern” and a second step of presenting an “addressed design” to the substrate both within an outside the area of the print pattern. In the method of the invention, within the print pattern the addressed design is formed into a “durable image material” forming at least a part of the design layer and outside the print pattern, the addressed design does not form a durable image material.Type: GrantFiled: April 22, 1999Date of Patent: July 31, 2001Assignee: Contra Vision LimitedInventors: George R. Patent number: 6267294Abstract: A method of operating a charge coupled device in an accelerated mode is provided, and in particular in connection with an optical symbology imager, so as to minimize variations in the position of the imager relative to the code. The CCD has two horizontal shift registers, each receiving every other scan line so that the output of each horizontal shift register equals the number of scan lines for normal television signals 262. The method skips through multiple lines of image data, then provides a black reference signal then images a series of lines at a slower speed, these lines being the lines of interest for focusing and illumination operations in the optical symbology imager. Finally, the remaining lines are passed through quickly. The imager goes back into reset mode after either normal or fast mode operation, and is thereby immediately ready to perform another scan. The fast mode operation enables the imager to obtain the approximately ten lines of image data of concern in only approximately 5.Type: GrantFiled: September 11, 1998Date of Patent: July 31, 2001Assignee: Robotic Vision Systems Inc.Inventors: Howard Stern, John H. Dowling

Patent number: 6267587Abstract: An apparatus and a method for curing coatings on ophthalmic lenses is disclosed. The apparatus includes an oven that is continuously supplied with lenses. A vertically oriented conveyor having multiple carrier bars for supporting the lenses is positioned within the oven. The conveyor moves the lenses through a series of positions within the oven where the lenses are subjected to heat. Ambient air is filtered and forced into the oven by an intake blower which keeps the air pressure within the oven above the ambient air pressure. Air is recirculated and filtered within the oven by recirculation blowers. Air is exhausted from the oven by an exhaust blower which effects air exchange with the ambient.Type: GrantFiled: July 6, 2000Date of Patent: July 31, 2001Assignee: Johnson & Johnson Vision Care, Inc.Inventors: Joseph A.
