Patent number: 5275784Abstract: Contact lenses are disinfected in a method including treating the contact lenses with an aqueous system of hydrogen peroxide in the presence of a hydrogen peroxide decomposition catalyst, and heating the system in order to accelerate decomposition of the hydrogen peroxide. In a preferred embodiment of the method, the initial concentration of hydrogen peroxide in the system is approximately 3-4% and the heating promotes decomposition of the hydrogen peroxide to a concentration of 50 parts per million or less within six hours following initial contact of catalyst with the system. The catalytic decomposition can be performed in a conventional lens sterilization vessel which is inserted within a heated receptacle to heat the reaction vessel and the contained sterilization system. The heated receptacle controls the temperature of the inserted vessel and sterilization system within a range of approximately 60.degree.-80.degree. Patent number: 5273291Abstract: The apparatus displays successive pictures of different-type game animals on a screen, preferably each for a predetermined interval of time. The bowman releases an arrow in an attempt to strike the heart or lung of each animal while its picture is being displayed. A scoring target overlies the screen and is imprinted with the heart and lung area identified for each animal, and in positional correlation with its displayed picture. Each arrow released is similarly identified so that after all arrows are released, the target can be inspected to establish a scoring accuracy of the bowman, by comparing each identified arrow with each heart and lung area aimed at.Type: GrantFiled: March 26, 1993Date of Patent: December 28, 1993Assignee: Archery Visions, Inc.Inventor: Nickolas J. Patent number: 5271381Abstract: A bending section of an endoscope is constructed from non-round vertebrae. The vertebrae are D-shaped, having a planar portion and an arcuate portion. A first pair of protrusions extends from a first surface of the vertebra, defining a vertical bending axis. A second pair of protrusions extends from a second surface of the vertebra, defining a horizontal bending axis. Because the vertebra is D-shaped, the second pair of protrusions are farther from the longitudinal bending axis of the bending section than the first pair of protrusions. To provide uniform, symmetrical bending of the bending section, the first pair of protrusions are shorter than the second pair of protrusions. In addition, the first pair of protrusions extends at a different angle than the second pair and thus have a different shape, so that the first and second pair of protrusions are not symmetrically shaped with respect to each other.Type: GrantFiled: November 18, 1991Date of Patent: December 21, 1993Assignee: Vision Sciences, Inc.Inventors: Robert E. Ailinger, James J. Frassica, Robert J. Herrington

Patent number: 5252818Abstract: Improved linear sensor array and scanner apparatus and operating methods to reduce noise and streaking in a digitized image produced by the scanner. The scanner uses a charge coupled device linear sensor array having a pair of sensor output channels, each for processing one half of the array sensor elements which are interleaved with the other half of the sensor elements. To provide a reference, the CCD outputs are read a plurality of times with the system on but no article in scanning position, with the multiple readings for each sensor element being averaged to provide an average reference level therefor. These averages are stored in digital form, each to provide a calibration factor (multiplier) for the corresponding readings of the array during scanning of an article. During scanning, the output corresponding to each sensor element is multiplied by the corresponding calibration factor to normalize each output to a common reference.Type: GrantFiled: August 22, 1991Date of Patent: October 12, 1993Assignee: Vision Ten, Inc.Inventors: Richard K. Patent number: 5242114Abstract: A motor vehicle headlamp glass washing apparatus comprises a jet nozzle mounted on a retractable jet carrier and supplied selectively from a source of washing liquid under pressure. The jet carrier comprises a variable volume chamber, which is defined by a fixed element and a movable element which slides on the fixed element and which carries the jet nozzle. A spring acts between the fixed and movable elements to bias the movable element into a retracted position. Supply of liquid under pressure to the variable volume chamber initially moves the movable element against the action of the spring into a deployed position, and then supplies the liquid to the jet nozzle. The fixed element is a tube open at a free end and connected to the liquid source at its other end, the movable element comprising a closed body having an internal space communicating with the jet nozzle.Type: GrantFiled: April 20, 1992Date of Patent: September 7, 1993Assignee: Valeo VisionInventors: Jean-Pierre Camier, Bernard Bigot
