  • Patent number: 10883728
Abstract: A method and system that allows thermal energy to be supplied at different temperature levels to consumers, where each consumer is provided with its desired temperature whenever that is necessary. The method or a system for supplying consumers with heat energy or with cooling energy includes a set of three or more conduits for carrying a heat transfer fluid, each conduit carrying fluid at one of three or more different temperatures or temperature ranges, a plurality of heating and/or cooling consumer appliances distributed along the length of the conduits, each consumer appliance being linked to one of a plurality of pairs of conduits such that either: a consumer appliance is linked on a high temperature side, or a consumer appliance is linked on a low temperature side; a number of heat or cold generators, each pair of conduits being connected to at least one of the generators.

  • Patent number: 6013511
Abstract: Precipitating of metals and degrading of xenobiotic organic compounds is carried out with a reactor containing microorganisms immobilized on a membrane made of an inorganic oxide such as ZrO.sub.2, Sb.sub.2 O.sub.3, or Al.sub.2 O.sub.3 and an organic polymer such as polysulfone. The membrane has a skin side and an open side, and pores of the skin side are smaller than pores of the open side. The microorganisms are immobilized as a biofilm on the skin side of the membrane. A nutrient chamber supplies a nutrient solution to the open side of the membrane and the nutrient solution passes through the membrane from the open side to contact the microorganisms on the skin side. An effluent chamber supplies an effluent solution containing a metal in the form of a salt, a xenobiotic compound such as a chlorinated organic compound or both to the biofilm of microorganisms on the skin side, and the microorganisms precipitate the metal and/or degrade the xenobiotic compound.

  • Patent number: 5786162
Abstract: The invention relates to a fused gene containing: the promoter sequence of (a) gene(s) encoding the resistance to one or several metal(s) or encoding the catabolism of one or several xenobiotic compound(s), said promoter being inducible in the presence of said metal(s) or xenobiotic compound(s), or both, and downstream the promoter, a gene producing a detectable signal such as light emitting gene, said gene being under the control of said promoter, said gene producing a detectable signal being located at a position such that the induction of the promoter causes the transcription of the gene producing a detectable signal and such that there is no terminator between the promoter and the gene producing a detectable signal.
