Abstract: The invention relates to simplifying calibration of gas sensors, including gas sensors which are portable and for home use, consumer use or medical use including breath gas sensors, where the calibration against samples of a measured gas having a concentration above the null value, is only performed once to establish a set of calibration ratios of measured known gas concentration readings over null sample readings. Thereafter, in use, the ratio of unknown gas concentration in a test sample to a null value (preferably ambient air) is determined without recalibration, and that ratio is compared with the set of calibration ratios to determine the unknown gas concentration by interpolation or extrapolation.

Abstract: Embodiments of this invention include systems and methods for developing individualized dietary and health improvement plans based on an individual's intestinal microbiome and digestive activity. More particularly, the invention is related to a system providing a hydrogen and/or methane sensor device and a wireless platform in communication with the sensor device to periodically analyze the individual's metabolic activity in correlation with their gut microbiome and a personal database to provide personalized feedback to the individual of treatment plans and general techniques that can be used to improve the individual's general health and well being. Abstract: The invention is related to a system for treating irritable bowel syndrome, Crohn's disease, ulcerative colitis (collectively, inflammatory bowel disease, or “IBD”) by determining a number of indicators, including genetic markers, gene expression levels, levels of certain compounds in the gut or feces, hydrogen and/or methane levels, and concentrations of particular bacteria in the gut or feces, and correlating one or more such indicators with symptoms in test subjects with IBD; and correlating diet, drugs, supplements or other therapy, with alleviation of IBD symptoms. The correlations established in the test subjects are confirmed or refuted for individuals suffering IBD, and the treatments established as reducing symptoms are supported through messaging and compliance is verified by monitoring the indicators.

According to one embodiment, a system for providing comprehensive care for a stoma patient includes: a sensor device for detecting a fill level of an ostomy bag fitted over and around a stoma, wherein the sensor device is configured to sense one or more parameters of an effluent received in the bag; communicating the measurements to a stoma care management software application for formatting and visualization on a patient mobile device; and transferring the formatted data to an interactive wireless stoma care management platform, wherein the platform is configured to maintain a patient related database and to periodically advise the patient of needed actions as well as to provide reminders, advice and coaching.
