Abstract: A client device for use in a cellular network providing location-based publications using a publish/subscribe protocol. The client device determines a geographical location relevant to the client device, determines a subscription geohash, to identify an area including the geographical location relevant to the client device, and sends a subscription to a server, the subscription having a subscription name comprising the subscription geohash. Also described are a server and a method for use in a cellular network providing location-based publications using a publish/subscribe protocol.
