    Abstract: A method for influencing the drive torque in a drive train comprising at least one electric motor at least indirectly driving one driven wheel, an internal combustion engine, and an electric machine allowing mechanical coupling to said engine operating a generator and a motor. Each selected motor allows electric coupling to the generator.The system creates a device for presetting a driver's desire for movement of the vehicle, coupled at least indirectly to an actuator of the internal combustion engine. According to the invention, the electric motors are operated as generators, at least upon release of the system for presetting a driver's desire. Drawn from the driven wheels by the electric motors is a first output portion that is generated in generator mode and fed to the electric machine for driving the internal combustion engine.

    Abstract: A drive unit for a motor vehicle having an engine; a transmission featuring a transmission housing; and a retarder featuring a rotor and a stator. A retarder shaft is provided that is supported by two bearings which are offset along the axial length of the retarder shaft. At least one of the bearings ("outside bearing") is supported by a wall ("outside wall") of the transmission housing. The retarder shaft protrudes freely beyond the outside wall of the transmission housing. Disposed on the retarder shaft, outside the outer bearing, on the outside wall, is a sealing component. The sealing component seals the clearance between the retarder (or pinion) shaft and the outside wall, preventing passage therethrough of the transmission oil and the operating medium of the retarder.

The transmissions attached to the electric motors are shifted, delayed in time. The shifting of the transmission attached to a first electric motor is monitored and the shifting of a transmission attached to a second motor is performed only when the shifting of the first transmission is completed. No interruption of the traction force occurs in the drive system.

The valve is designed such that in a first position, a conducting connection is established between the working medium container and the leakage pipe to provide for a pumping operation of the retarder. When the valve is in a second position, a conducting connection is established between the working medium container and the first pipe for a braking operation of the retarder.

A central operating medium supply duct is arranged in the take-off shaft and extends in the take-off shaft in the axial direction at least up into the area of the center plane of the clutch.
