  • Publication number: 20020033012
Abstract: A method and apparatus for the simultaneous centralized controlled adjustment of the braking force of yarn brakes of a plurality of twist spindles of a two-for-one twisting machine are provided, whereby each twist spindle is of the type having, in its hollow shaft, a yarn brake supported between two brake rings with one of the brake rings being rotatable in response to a downward axial pressure thereon in a manner such that the brake ring undergoes a discrete axial displacement to a new axial position. A support frame to which yarn balloon guides are mounted exerts a downward axial force such that the yarn balloon guides simultaneously exert downward axial pressure on the yarn intake conduits of the twist spindles which, in turn, effects axial displacement of the rotatable and axially adjustable brake ring on the yarn intake conduit of each twist spindle into new axial positions.

  • Publication number: 20010049929
Abstract: A method for spinning fibers onto the free ends of the two threads of a yarn that is produced during an integrated spinning and twisting process and a two-for-one spinning and twisting apparatus for performing the method are provided. The method includes gripping a twisted yarn, separating two threads of the twisted yarn in a manner such that the twist which was originally present in each individual thread prior to the doubling of the thread with the other thread returns to the now separated thread portion, and forming a thread loop of each separated thread portion. Each thread loop is clamped and respective portions of the two branches of the thread loop extend to a spinning rotor and the spindle hollow axle. Spinning is commenced in coordination with winding and the thread loop is dissolved as the now joined thread is drawn into the spindle hollow axle.

Abstract: An apparatus for temporarily retaining a thread segment of a twist yarn having a pre-existing twist in a manner which substantially preserves the pre-existing twist along a predetermined length of the thread segment in preparation for a selected thread or yarn joining operation is provided. The apparatus includes a stationary clamp surface member and a movable clamp surface member. The movable clamp surface member is movable relative to the stationary clamp surface member to form therewith a clamping extent in which the thread segment is clamped between the movable clamp surface member and the stationary clamp surface member. The clamping extent is dimensioned in correspondence with the length of the thread segment and may have, for example, a length corresponding to one-half the length of the predetermined length of the thread segment or about 35 to about 40 mm.

  • Patent number: 6196491
Abstract: In a method for winding a yarn onto a spool body, the conical spool body is driven about a longitudinal axis by a first drive unit. A yarn is guided onto the spool body by a reciprocating yarn guide thereby winding the yarn onto the spool body. A constant yarn winding speed is provided along the length of the spool body during the entire yarn winding process by adjusting the revolutions per minute of the spool body synchronously with a movement of the reciprocating yarn guide. The revolutions per minute are controlled by a computing and control unit based on the instant position of the reciprocating yarn guide and the diameter of the spool body at the instant position. The device for performing this method has a sensor for detecting the changing diameter of the spool body, and the reciprocating yarn guide has a detection device for detecting the instant position of the reciprocating yarn guide.

  • Patent number: 6047535
Abstract: In a method for a contact-free energy and signal transmission for a textile machine between a first stationary part and a second stationary part separated by an air gap, wherein at least one component consisting of an electrically non-conducting material is moved through the air gap, wherein an alternating current signal of a frequency of at least 10 kHz is inductively transmitted by a transformer, having a primary side arranged at the first stationary part and a secondary side arranged at the second stationary part, wherein the primary side and the secondary side are separated by the air gap, a transformer is employed having only one coil pair. Energy and signals are transmitted via the one coil pair by a common carrier signal. The carrier signal provides energy transmission. The signals to be transmitted are imprinted onto the carrier signal as a frequency modulation such that the carrier signal jumps between two frequency values having a fixed spacing.

  • Patent number: 6047537
Abstract: In a method for producing a twisted yarn by an integrated spinning and twisting process, individual spun yarns are spun from loose fiber material in at least two spinning devices. The spun yarns are combined and guided in a first direction and subjected to a common first twisting to form a once twisted yarn. The once twisted yarn is then guided in a second direction opposite the first direction according to the two-for-one twisting principle, to form a yarn balloon in order to subject the once twisted yarn to a second twisting. The resulting yarn is then fed through a centering point to a winding device. The loose fiber material is fed into the annular chamber, that is coaxial to the yarn balloon and in which the yarn balloon freely rotates, and is guided substantially radially through the yarn balloon such that the yarn of the yarn balloon directly passes through the loose fiber material.

  • Patent number: 5964083
Abstract: A method for manufacturing a twisted yarn by a combined spinning and twisting process includes the steps of producing in at least two spinning devices individual spun yarns and guiding the spun yarns together to a first centering location positioned coaxially to the axis of the double twisting device to subject the individual spun yarns in a first yarn feeding direction to a first twist, whereby a yarn balloon is formed. Subsequently, the spun yarns are guided to a second centering location, also positioned coaxially to the axis of the double twisting device, and through the second centering location into the interior of the yarn balloon to subject the spun yarns in a second yarn feeding direction, opposite the first yarn feeding direction, to a second twist. The spun yarns are then wound onto a rotating bobbin positioned in the interior of the yarn balloon.

  • Patent number: 4392340
Abstract: In a textile machine two primary yarns are fed under relatively low longitudinal tension from respective yarn supplies to a combining location at which they are combined into a single yarn. The combined yarns are fed from this location under relatively high longitudinal tension to a takeup station where they are wound up on a spool. The tension in the combined yarns is continuously monitored between the combining location and the takeup station and an output is generated when this tension drops from the high tension below a predetermined level at least equal to the relatively low tensions in the individual yarns. This occurs when one of the yarns breaks. The yarn feeds are interrupted when the output is generated to prevent forming an inadequately plied yarn.

  • Patent number: 4391087
Abstract: A twisting apparatus has a spindle extending along an upright axis, having an upper end and a rotatable lower end, and formed with a passage opening axially upwardly at the upper end and radially outwardly at the lower end. A bobbin support is rotatably carried on the spindle between the ends thereof and is provided with four angularly equispaced bobbin holders radially equispaced from the axis. Two of the diametrally opposite supports carry main bobbins and the other two carry reserve bobbins, with the leading ends of the yarns of the reserve bobbins being tied to the tail ends of the yarns of the main bobbins. The spindle is rotated about the axis while the bobbin support is held against rotation. The leading ends of the yarns of the main bobbins are led down through the passage and up around the bobbin support while the spindle is rotating to wind the yarns together and form a balloon around the support. The bobbins can be standard small-diameter bobbins such as come directly from a spinning machine.
