    Abstract: A mechanically operable clutch having a foot pedal used in connection with a transmission operated by a lever is arranged with an operating assembly physically connecting the clutch pedal to the clutch. The operating assembly includes a pair of pistons, one within the other having a lost motion connection including a compression spring between them. The inner piston being connected to the pedal and the outer piston to the clutch. The pistons form a chamber between them normally open to the atmosphere. A source of vacuum and a valve controlled by the transmission lever and operable when said lever is moved to place the transmission in neutral to connect the chamber to the vacuum source and thereby shift the pistons in such a way as to hold the clutch disengaged and the pedal erected so long as the transmission remains in neutral.

    Abstract: In known V-belt automatic variable power transmissions the change in the gear ratio as a function of angular velocity or the number of revolutions at full throttle at high loads is a compromise between the desired performance of the vehicle and fuel consumption, emission, noise nuisance considerations. The invention obolishes this compromise by making the gear ratio constant in a determined region or range of angular velocities around the original change gear ratio and number of revolutions relationship. In a preferred embodiment this is achieved by the shape of the cam surfaces of the centrifugal weights which surfaces are almost straight over a determined portion thereof.

    Abstract: A method of providing transverse elements to be arranged in a consecutive series side by side on a driving belt with curved surfaces by which they support the driving belt. The surfaces obtain a curvature by replacing the driving belt by an endless grinding band having grinding material on its inner side engaging the said surfaces and running the whole on two pulleys, one of which has a smaller diameter than the other one. The grinding band has longitudinal zones with different abrasing capacities, for example by providing the band with a longitudinal range of gaps in its middle zone. In this way the supporting surfaces obtain simultaneously a curvature in the running direction of the belt and in a direction opposite thereto.
