Patent number: 4012994Abstract: An axial bearing device is provided for the cylinder barrel in an axial piston machine, particularly of so-called bent-axis type, i.e. with the axis of the barrel inclined to the axis of the drive disk. The barrel is rotatably journalled in a housing, which is open at one end, and adapted to be resiliently urged by means of a spring member against a valve disk at the other end of said housing, which is closed. The spring member comprises an elongated leaf spring which at one end is fixed at a position on the inside of the housing and at the other engages a bearing ring located in a raceway radially outwardly of the mouths of the cylinder bores at the end of the cylinder barrel remote from said valve disk.Type: GrantFiled: May 5, 1975Date of Patent: March 22, 1977Assignee: Volvo Flygmotor AktiebolagInventor: Sten Axel Torby Malmros

Patent number: 3958496Abstract: A control device for hydraulic machines with variable displacement comprises a spring-biased control valve member for actuation of hydraulic adjustment means to provide the displacement variation, said valve member being engaged by one end of a double-armed lever on which acts a force proportional to the working pressure of the machine on an arm length relative to a pivot for said lever, which length is variable through a sliding movement of said pivot, and a means for controlling the maximum pressure of the machine. By a pressure means, the slidably movable pivot is resiliently biased against an indicating member responsive to the momentary adjusted displacement of the machine. Moreover, the control means for the maximum pressure of the machine consists of a stationary but adjustable abutment means adapted to restrict the length of the sliding movement of said pivot in order to determine a desired minimum value of said lever arm length and thus the value of the maximum pressure of the machine.Type: GrantFiled: April 15, 1974Date of Patent: May 25, 1976Assignee: Volvo Flygmotor AktiebolagInventor: Bengt Johan Wallin

Patent number: 3947230Abstract: A combustion chamber device includes a combustion chamber and a rotatable cup-shaped fuel spreader arranged centrally therein. Liquid fuel is supplied to within said cup for being distributed therein and discharged therefrom and intermixed with an air stream supplied to said combustion chamber to form an air-fuel mixture which then is ignited. The spreader cup is located adjacent a combustion zone in the combustion chamber and provided with an enclosing insulation in the form of a layer of axially flowing air. According to the invention, the fuel spreader cup has a substantially straight and cylindrical inner surface with a circumferential shoulder or threshold adjacent the open end, said shoulder having a radial thickness sufficient for maintaining inside said spreader cup a fuel layer of required depth for obtaining a predetermined fuel supply volume in the cup.Type: GrantFiled: September 17, 1974Date of Patent: March 30, 1976Assignee: Volvo Flygmotor AktiebolagInventors: Karl-Axel Zetterstrom, David Sten Borje Brengdahl

Patent number: 3940253Abstract: A combustion chamber device for the purification of process waste gases from poisonous, noisome and/or other noxious constituents by combustion while using a support combustion device and under conditions used in gas turbine technology. The process gases to be purified are fed into the combustion chamber through the axial central inlet thereof, and the combustion chamber is provided with a special inlet for further additional air. A flame tube is disposed inside the combustion chamber wall and spaced therefrom. The flame tube is arranged to be cooled by means of a film of the main part of the further additional air entering through the special inlet.Type: GrantFiled: December 7, 1973Date of Patent: February 24, 1976Assignee: Volvo Flygmotor AktiebolagInventor: Karl Axel Zetterstrom

Patent number: 3930436Abstract: A servo device for steering gears for vehicles and ships is adapted to be coupled in a mechanical connection between said gear or the like and the steering rod or the like operated thereby. The device comprises a pair of opposed cylinder-and-piston units each having a working chamber, defined by the respective piston and adapted to be supplied pressurized fluid from a suitable source during control by valve means responsive to a movement of the output member of said gear and the resistance thereagainst of the steering rod operated thereby so as to amplify the power for overcoming said resistance by means of the pressure fluid in one of said pair of working chambers.Type: GrantFiled: December 5, 1973Date of Patent: January 6, 1976Assignee: Volvo Flygmotor AktiebolagInventor: Gunnar Hedenberg
