Abstract: Resin infusion medium and reinforcing composite lamina textile constituted by a warp knit open work structure produced in the form of polygons of which at least some of the edges are defined by knops such as to give prominence to the design to provide for fluidic channels, the knops being knitted to be sufficiently non-compressible in order to resist collapse of the fluid channels during compression of the composite preform under vacuum induced process pressure.
Abstract: A covalently-compatible in-mold gelcoat composition for use with epoxy matrix resins, including fiber-reinforced substrates, wherein the gelcoat composition comprises an acrylate ester component. Also disclosed is a process for using such composition.
Abstract: A three-dimensional spacer fabric resin interlaminar infusion medium and reinforcing composite lamina for use in the vacuum-induced manufacture of fiber reinforced polymer composites is described. This use of the three-dimensional spacer fabric as a composite interlaminar component improves both the vacuum-induced resin infusion flow rate and laminate quality control and aids in the achievement of enhanced resin uniformity distribution throughout the laminate.
