Patent number: 11520002Abstract: A vessel monitoring service obtains transponder data of a vessel operating within a navigable area. In response to obtaining the transponder data of the vessel, the vessel monitoring service evaluates the transponder data and a plurality of travel segments recorded for a plurality of vessels to identify a travel segment to which the transponder data corresponds. The vessel monitoring service updates the travel segment using the transponder data and determine whether the vessel is engaged in an unauthorized activity. If so, the vessel monitoring service provides an indication that the vessel is engaged in the unauthorized activity.Type: GrantFiled: July 11, 2019Date of Patent: December 6, 2022Assignee: Vulcan Technologies LLCInventors: David Martin Moore, Mark Alexander Otterlee, Patrick Dunagan, Leina Tani

Patent number: 10419716Abstract: Methods, systems, and techniques for projecting streamed video are provided. An Example Surround Video Projection System (SVPS) provides support for interacting with the displayed virtual reality environment, capturing a video of a user in the VR environment, and displaying the VR environment on deformations. Also, the SVPS may change the displayed VR environment responsive to attributes and/or characteristics of the user. In one example, the SVPS comprises a real time, interactive rendering system, a display system, and one or more display units. The rendering system comprises a high resolution graphics engine capable of generating high resolution video. The projection system comprises video capture cards to capture the generated video stream and forward it to a projection mapping engine. The projection mapping engine consolidates and stitches together the received video stream as appropriate to render the video stream over display units to the target viewing environment such as a dome/sphere.Type: GrantFiled: December 22, 2017Date of Patent: September 17, 2019Assignee: Vulcan Technologies LLCInventors: Mars Tanumihardja, Joseph Laurino, Ashly Yeo

Patent number: 10049413Abstract: Embodiments create and label contextual slices from observation data and aggregate slices into a hierarchical storyline for a user. A context is a (possibly partial) specification of what a user was doing in the dimensions of time, place, and activity. A storyline is composed of a time-ordered sequence of contexts that partition a given span of time that are arranged in groups at one or more hierarchical levels. A storyline is created through a process of data collection, slicing, labeling, and aggregating. Raw context data can be collected from a variety of observation sources with various error characteristics. Slicing refines the raw context data into a consistent storyline composed of a sequence of contexts representing homogeneous time intervals. Labeling adds more specific and semantically meaningful data (e.g., geography, venue, activity) to the slices. Aggregation identifies groups of slices that correspond to a single semantic concept.Type: GrantFiled: September 19, 2014Date of Patent: August 14, 2018Assignee: VULCAN TECHNOLOGIES LLCInventors: Alan Linchuan Liu, Kevin Francis Eustice, Michael Perkowitz

Patent number: 9495468Abstract: The current document is directed to methods and systems that aggregate data from multiple sources and that organize and efficiently present data obtained from the data sources to a user on a user, or client, device. In certain implementations, a client-side application communicates with one or more servers of a cloud-based data-aggregation system. A multi-rotor-data-carousel-based graphical user interface accommodates data items continuously received from the data-aggregation system and efficiently displays portions of the data items to the user.Type: GrantFiled: March 12, 2014Date of Patent: November 15, 2016Assignee: VULCAN TECHNOLOGIES, LLCInventors: Michael Edward Coyote, Matthew Greene, Marcellino Tanumihardja, Mei Chi Chin

Patent number: 9443038Abstract: Embodiments of the present invention are directed to facilitating tag assignment to data objects as data objects are added to a tag-associated data-object storage system by users of the tag-associated data-object storage system and to facilitate subsequent display, access, and further characterization of data objects that already reside in the a tag-associated data-object storage system. Methods and systems of the present invention provide for automated tag suggestion to users in order to both increase usability of the interface provided to the tag-associated data-object storage systems as well as decrease the likelihood of unnecessary and unproductive tag proliferation within the tag-associated data-object storage system.Type: GrantFiled: November 1, 2011Date of Patent: September 13, 2016Assignee: Vulcan Technologies LLCInventors: Prasantha Jayakody, Linh Dinh Tran, Jiaxin Wang

Patent number: 8291261Abstract: Embodiments of the present invention are directed to computer-management tools and utilities that allow computer users to save and restore current application-level runtime states of computational environments created by users on computer systems. Certain embodiments of the present invention are particularly directed to time-and-memory efficient state-saving and state-restoring tools and utilities that allow a user to save snapshots of the user's application-level runtime environment, to manage and review stored snapshots, and to subsequently restore the application-level runtime state of a computer system from a previously saved snapshot.Type: GrantFiled: November 5, 2008Date of Patent: October 16, 2012Assignee: Vulcan Technologies LLCInventors: Mark Allen Malleck, Christopher W.
