  • Patent number: 4310840
Abstract: A text-processing system for presenting input data on a display device such as a cathode ray tube (CRT) and/or a data receiving unit from which the data may be selectively retrieved and presented in a predetermined format. The system comprises memory addressing and interpreting means which functions substantially independently for CRT beam controlling means, thus enabling parallel operation of these functions. The system further comprises slewing means for controlling beam movement directly between any selected points on the CRT face. Provision is made for italicizing and/or altering the size of selected ones of the displayed characters.

  • Patent number: 4262894
Abstract: Apparatus for moving an object, such as for example the top sheet of a stack of individual sheets of cut paper, including a motor which upon energization of the motor to rotate its drive shaft having a drive member provided thereon, is pivoted toward the object to cause the drive member to engage the object and move the object upon rotation of the drive shaft. Such pivoting of the motor and drive shaft is produced by using force received from the drive shaft to produce another force which in turn produces torque which causes pivoting of the motor and drive shaft toward the object to be moved.

  • Patent number: 4218150
Abstract: A moving coil mechanism is utilized to operate each individual print wire of a matrix printing head. Static magnetic fields for the moving coil mechanism may be provided by permanent magnets. Also disclosed is a method for compensating varying frictional forces by sensing the voltage induced in the moving coil and utilizing the information so obtained as an indication of print wire velocity. Current drive to the moving coil can then be modified to maintain print wire velocity substantially independent of varying frictional forces. Also disclosed is an interspersed, or "nested," arrangement of moving coil mechanisms which contributes to the compactness of the improved matrix printer.

  • Patent number: 3974493
Abstract: In a keyboard entry word processing system, text is stored in a recirculating refresh memory along with a carriage return code at the end of each line. The text is displayed on a CRT screen. A cursor symbol, also displayed on the screen, may be moved by keyboard control to designate a particular character position on the screen where editing is to occur. When the cursor is within the field of displayed text, characters may be edited at the location in memory corresponding to the location of the cursor on the screen. When the cursor is outside the field of displayed text, the cursor is first "found" by altering the refresh memory to provide a new memory location corresponding to the cursor location, and then editing is performed at the new memory location.
