  • Patent number: 8546301
Abstract: Multi-ply thermally printable constructs include a thermal print medium sandwiched between two opaque substrates that are temporarily bonded together to prevent information that is thermally printed through one of the substrates from being viewed until the substrates are separated. The thermal print medium, opaque substrates, and the means for bonding the substrates can take various forms for achieving particular objectives.

  • Patent number: 8540839
Abstract: Resealable multi-ply labels are made from webs along an inline press that include a base label ply and an overlaminate for capturing onserts between them. The base label plies carry an adhesive layer on the bottom surface for mounting the resealable multi-ply labels to articles. The base plies each include a hinge area, an attachment area, a tab area, and an intermediate area separating the hinge area from the attachment area. The overlaminates form permanent bonds with both the hinge areas and the tab areas of the base plies and form reusable bonds with the attachment areas of the base plies. The permanently bonded tab areas of the base plies provide access for releasing the overlaminates from the attachment areas of the base plies and exposing the onserts.

  • Patent number: 8449958
Abstract: A label-wrapped foam cup combines a label in the shape of an annular section with a foam cup having a frusto-conical shape by wrapping the label around a foam cup and securing the label to the foam cup with a patterned adhesive. Text and graphics are printed on a front surface of the labels and a patterned adhesive is printed on a back surface of the labels. The patterned adhesive includes discontinuous deposits of adhesive that bond the label to the foam cup and form corresponding undulations in the front surface of the label. The adhesive pattern can be printed in registry with the text and graphics to provide enhanced visual effects.

  • Patent number: 7747472
Abstract: A hidden image game piece and a method by which a hidden image game piece is produced. A first pattern of colored ink is deposited on a transparent or highly translucent substrate at 110-180 density, forming the image which is to be hidden. Then a second pattern of colored ink, of a different color than first pattern's ink, is deposited upon the substrate on top of the first pattern, at 90-170 density. When the game piece is flooded with additive light of the same color as the second pattern's ink, the previously concealed image, composed of the first pattern's ink, becomes perceptible. Because a transparent or highly translucent substrate is used for the game piece, and because the density of the ink application is controlled within specific ranges, this game piece may be used with a computer monitor, or with other low-intensity sources of additive light.

  • Patent number: 7614510
Abstract: A point of purchase display includes a hanger strip with a plurality of sideways hangers suspending products with suspendable packaging. The hanger strip is a single planar sheet with a plurality of slits that form tongue members extending in one lateral direction to a free end that can be pivoted to either the front or back side of the strip. The tongues can take various configurations, for example, having upwardly extending hooked free ends or round-headed free ends. The hangers can also be formed of generally E-shaped slits defining opposing tongue and prong features, preferably designed to capture the necks of hanger hooks on the products. The hanger strip also has a display area devoid of hangers for promotional printing or decals.

  • Patent number: 7422296
Abstract: A point of purchase display includes a hangable display strip having a coupon dispenser box and a plurality of mounts formed from a single sheet blank. The products can be supported from underneath by support ledges and retained by holsters hinged to the strip at one side and slots in the strip. The ledges are simple flaps hinged to the strip at one edge joined by a tab and slot connection at the other side. The dispenser box is formed from a flap of the blank folded into five sides, one of which is hinged to the strip and two others of which have tabs that fit into slots in the strip. A strip-like flap of the blank fits through a cut out and forms an arched spring inside the dispenser box biasing a stack of coupons toward an opening for dispensing one at a time.

  • Patent number: 7306837
Abstract: An ovenable package contains an ovenable product and has a display surface mounting a self-adhesive ovenable label, for example, presenting a coupon or other product promotional item. The ovenable label has at least two layers including a promotional layer defining the text and graphics of the promotional item. The promotional layer can be paper covered by a transparent, heat resistant barrier layer, preferably made of polyester, adhered to the ovenable package directly or to a heat resistant base layer which is adhered to the ovenable package. In this case, one or more layers of the label can be perforated to define a lift off section. Or, the promotional layer itself can be the outer heat resistant layer releasably adhered to the base layer. A labeling method of providing the promotional item to a consumer of the ovenable product is also disclosed.

  • Patent number: 7296826
Abstract: A composite window label construction has a base pressure-sensitive, adhesive-backed label with a window (14) cut out of it and a second layer of reflective material covering the window (14) from the back side of the base layer (16) and adhered to the back side of the base layer around margins of the second layer. In a method of making the label construction, a continuous release liner is stipped from the base material web after the windows are cut in the base material web and individual swatches of the second layer are cut from a continuous roll of the second layer and individually placed over the windows. Subsequently, the same or a different release liner is reattached to the pressure-sensitive adhesive side of the base web and individual labels are cut from the base web.

  • Publication number: 20050184505
Abstract: An in-mold label is formed with multiple panels that significantly increase the printable area of the labels. For example, such multi-panel labels can include a base panel and an overlying panel. A pressure-sensitive adhesive layer temporarily bonds the base and overlying panels and a heat-activated adhesive layer permanently bonds the base layer to a wall of the container. The heat-activated adhesive can be activated by exposure to molten material during the molding process. The adhesive characteristics of the pressure-sensitive adhesive are not adversely affected by transmissions of heat from the molten material through the base panel.
