    Abstract: An apparatus for assembling a video tape has a video tape drive, at least one sound track drive, and a drive coupled connection to provide a synchronous run between the drives under all operational conditions inclusive of standstill, positive acceleration, uniform tape speed and negative acceleration. To compensate for slip of the video tape, there is provided a closed-loop controller for the drive coupled connection.
