Patent number: 7128436Abstract: A flashlight lens cover has a generally cylindrical body member and a generally circular cap member which is pivotally connected to the body member. A spring member urges the cap member to an open position. When inward force is imparted to opposite sides of the body member, said sides move relatively closer together causing a first end and second end to move relatively further apart causing a retaining ledge of a latch member to be moved away from engagement with an edge portion of the cap causing the cap member to move to an open position until manually closed.Type: GrantFiled: January 28, 2005Date of Patent: October 31, 2006Assignee: W. T. Storey, Inc.Inventors: Ronald Bensinger, Brian E. Probst

Patent number: 7128437Abstract: A temperature activated pressure relief mechanism for a flashlight or other battery containing device includes a watertight sealed flashlight housing which has an opening which extends from an outer surface to and inner surface of the housing. A metallic eyelet having an eyelet opening and having a cylindrical body sized to fit is placed tightly into the housing opening. A fusible plug of a suitable alloy material placed into said eyelet opening so that when said alloy material reaches the alloy melting point, said material will melt and flow at least partially out of the eyelet opening allowing gas pressure from within the sealed flashlight housing to vent to outside the sealed housing through the eyelet opening.Type: GrantFiled: November 3, 2004Date of Patent: October 31, 2006Assignee: W. Patent number: 7025471Abstract: A flashlight and attached lanyard strap includes a flashlight end having a generally cylindrical wall which has a notch therein. A folded lanyard strap held by a securing pin extends through a bridge opening into a notch chamber and extends outwardly away from the flashlight end through the notch. The arrangement allows the flashlight to be placed on a horizontal surface to shine light into the air (or onto a ceiling) and also allows movement of the lanyard without producing audible sound.Type: GrantFiled: July 21, 2004Date of Patent: April 11, 2006Assignee: W. Patent number: 6893140Abstract: A flashlight is disclosed which includes a housing adapted to receive one or more battery cells and having a transparent lens on a forward end thereof. An LED light source connected to the cell is utilized in conjunction with collimating optics positioned adjacent the LED to refract rays of light from the LED forwardly. A first paraboloid reflector having a concave reflective surface is positioned within said housing to receive rays of light from the collimating optics and to reflect the rays rearwardly and a second paraboloid reflector having a concave reflective surface is positioned within said housing to receive rays of light reflected rearwardly from the first paraboloid reflector and to further reflect the rays forwardly through the transparent lens.Type: GrantFiled: December 13, 2002Date of Patent: May 17, 2005Assignee: W. T. Storey, Inc.Inventors: William T. Storey, Brian E. Probst, Joseph E. Gorrie

Patent number: 6854865Abstract: A reflector for flashlights and other light emitting objects is disclosed which includes a generally deep dish shaped reflector member having a reflective inner surface. The reflector member has a rear vertex end and a forward open end and has a depth greater than the average diameter of said forward open end. Preferably the depth is at least 1.2 times greater than said average diameter of the forward open end. Also the reflector preferably has an optical axis and having a focus point located thereon at a location less than 10% of the distance from the rear vertex end to the forward open end of the reflector.Type: GrantFiled: February 12, 2003Date of Patent: February 15, 2005Assignee: W. T. Storey, Inc.Inventors: Brian E. Probst, William T. Storey

Patent number: 6186839Abstract: An electrical connector is disclosed which has a terminal block having threaded screw opening provided in a first surface thereof. The screw opening has a pair of longitudinally extending groves on opposite sides of a cylindrical side wall of the screw opening. The terminal block also has a cable opening on a surface adjacent the first surface. The cable opening extends longitudinally into the screw opening. A screw member is provided having a threaded outer surface. The screw member is provided with a generally diamond shaped compression member which is rotatably mounted to a shaft provided on the first end of the screw member. The diamond shaped compression member has two rounded corners provided on a long axis of the member in such a manner that when the first end of the screw member is inserted into the screw opening, the two rounded corners of the compression member slide in and are guided by the longitudinally extending groves as the screw member is threaded into the screw hole.Type: GrantFiled: February 25, 2000Date of Patent: February 13, 2001Assignee: W.
