Abstract: The use of redispersible polymer powders containing no organic emulsifier for a binder in the production of carpeting is surprisingly superior to use of the same polymers in the form of an aqueous dispersion. Tuft removal force in particular, is improved. The compositions contain no thickener, or a reduced level of thickener.

Abstract: Efficient distillative separation of an at least three component mixture containing high boiler, medium boiler and low boiler components is accomplished by interposing a column having a stripping section and a rectifying section separated from each other by a horizontal impermeable dividing wall between conventional distillation columns. High efficiency and low capital cost is achieved.

Abstract: Prolonged operation campaigns in a fluidized bed reactor for producing granular polysilicon by deposition of silicon onto silicon seed particles from a silicon-containing precursor gas is made possible by employing a silicon-coated reaction tube which is not insulated above a region of the fluidized bed and as a result has a lower temperature such that the ratio of the thickness of the silicon on the reactor tube adjoining the fluidized bed to the coating thickness over the total reactor tube is from 7:1 to 1.5 to 1 after production campaign of from 15 to 500 days.
Abstract: Pure oil-based personal care products containing less than or equal to 1 wt. % of water, contain alkyl glycoside modified polysiloxanes of Formula (I) where x, y and z are between 1 and 10,000, n and m are between 1 and 20, alkyl is a linear or branched C2-C20 hydrocarbon, and W is a linear or branched C2-C20 alkylene.
Abstract: The use of an N-acylaminoacid condensate as a surfactant in the preparation of silicone rubber particle emulsions allows the emulsions to be prepared with exceptionally low levels of surfactants. The resulting rubber particles display typical silicone rubber characteristics in contrast to rubber particles prepared using larger amounts of conventional surfactants.
Abstract: Moisture curing alkoxysilyl-functional polymer compositions containing a high phenyl-content silicone resin and carbon black exhibit high adhesion to substrates, high tensile strength, very high elongation, and high tear strength without becoming unduly hard.
Abstract: Polycrystalline silicon chunks are packed for further processing and/or for shipment with minimal contamination by introducing the chunks into a cardboard container lined with a non-contaminating plastic. The process is economical, avoids the problems associated with packaging in plastic bags, and provides far less contamination and spillage during transport.
Abstract: Organopolysiloxanes having an OH content of 3.0-10.0% by weight are produced in a continuous process in which silanes of the formula I R1mSiR2nXo ??(I), in which R1 is a C1-C18-hydrocarbon radical and R2 is a C1-C6-alkoxy radical and X is a chlorine or bromine radical m is 1, 2 or 3, n is 0, 1, 2 or 3 and o is 0, 1, 2 or 3, with the proviso that 4?m=n+o, and that in at least 30 mol % of the silanes of the general formula I, n?0 und o?0, water, and water-insoluble non-polar solvent are metered in continuously into a reactor to form a reaction mixture and the reaction mixture is continuously discharged from the reactor.

Abstract: Substantially truly spherical silica-coated silicone rubber particles which do not have blocking problems are easily produced, and exhibit excellent dispersion stability, stability during the isolation of particles, and stability of physical properties. The silica-coated silicone rubber particles include silicone rubber particles and a coating layer thereon configured to coat the surface of the silicone rubber particle and formed from silica particles, in a coating amount of 2.0×10?9 to 3.2×10?6 kg/m2. The particles have a sphericity of 0.8 to 1.0.
Abstract: Epoxy silane oligomers are prepared from a glycidoxypropyl alkoxysilane in the presence of an alcohol and an esterification and/or transesterification catalyst, and have improved storage stability. The oligomers are particularly useful as scrub-resistant additives for aqueous architectural coatings.
Abstract: Siloxanes which are liquid at 25° C. and 1 bar, have 2% to 12% by weight of silanol groups and are of the formula (1): MaDbTcQdM?eD?fT?g??(1), are prepared by reacting metal salts of silanols of the formula (2): R1Si(OH)4?l?m(O?Zr+/r)m??(2) or condensation products thereof with silanes of the formula (3): R?nSiX4?n??(3) in a ratio which is calculated by: mol of organosiliconate of the general formula (2): mol of silane of the general formula (3)=x*(4?n)/m, where x=0.8 to 1.2.
Abstract: In situ coating of the reactor tube of a CVD fluidized bed reactor for producing granular polysilicon allows a wider selection of reactor tube materials to be used and provides granular polysilicon product of higher purity.
Abstract: Organopolysiloxanes having amino groups are prepared by reacting wherein (A) silanes of the formula R1—O—SiR2—O—R1 ??(I) with (B) silanes of the formula (R32N)—X—SiR42—O—R2 ??(II) and (C) water.
Abstract: Elemental silicon is produced in higher yield and with less production of byproducts when magnesium oxide having a large particle size is used as a reaction moderator.
Abstract: Coated proppants useful in fracking operations in oil and gas production are coated with a novolac resin containing a linear or cyclic organopolysiloxane of specific composition. The coatings are more fracture resistant, thus producing less fines during use, resulting in longer production campaigns.

Abstract: Hydrophobic shaped silica bodies having low density and low thermal conductivity are produced by forming a dispersion of silica in a solution of binder and organic solvent, and removing the solvent and shaping to form a shaped body. The shaped bodies retain their hydrophobicity, are stable with regards to shape, and are useful in acoustic and thermal insulation.

Abstract: Impure gaseous hydrogen chloride from organochlorosilane hydrolysis is freed of impurities by first scrubbing with an organochlorosilane, which may be the same or different from the organochlorosilane(s) hydrolyzed, and then further scrubbing with chloromethane. The purified gaseous hydrogen chloride is preferably used in chlorosilane synthesis.
Abstract: Highly adhesive, soft silicone gels are prepared from an aliphatically unsaturated organopolysiloxanes and an organosilicon compound crosslinker of high molecular weight and a very low silicon-bonded hydrogen content.
