Abstract: This disclosure is directed to a membrane filtration installation having a liquid inlet chamber and a liquid outlet chamber, each of which was a pipe plate and a number of support pipes between the pipe plates. The inner side of the support pipes structurally support a non-woven tube having an inner tubular membrane on its inner side. At each end the membranes with non-woven tubes are accommodated in openings in the pipe plates. Each membrane engages a sealing sleeve which is integral with a flange which cooperates with the pipe plate beside the openings. The flange is provided with a circumferential annular shoulder which clamps and sealingly engages the pipe plate and the lower edge of the wall of a liquid outlet or inlet chamber by means of a nut engaging a shoulder on the liquid chamber and which is screwed on the outer side of a pipe plate. Preferably the flange is provided with an annular rounded shoulder for engaging the lower edge of the liquid inlet or outlet chamber.
Abstract: A composite tube of a heat-sealable non-woven material comprises an inner and an outer tube of non-woven, each of said tubes being provided with a longitudinal seal obtained by ultrasonic sealing, the outer and inner tube being fixed with respect to each other by adhesive spots. The inner side of the inner non-woven tube is coated with a membrane for membrane filtration. The seal formed by ultrasonic sealing in the outer tube does not extend to the inner side of the inner tube and preferably the seals in the outer and inner tube are staggered with respect to each other. The composite tube is formed by first forming the inner tube, applying spots of an adhesive upon the outer side of the inner tube, and subsequently applying the outer tube onto the inner tube. During the step of forming the longitudinal seal by ultrasonic sealing in the outer tube it is avoided that the seal as formed extends toward the inner side of the inner tube.

Abstract: Method of and apparatus for washing and cleaning membranes of a plurality of membrane filtration units aligned in series, each unit being part of a circuit provided with a recirculation pump, each circuit being provided with an inlet and an outlet. Washing liquid is supplied to the circuits in an amount exceeding the predetermined capacity of the recirculation pump.
Abstract: An apparatus for membrane filtration comprises an inlet and an outlet, as well as a central permeate discharge tube. The supporting tubes supporting filtration membranes are disposed in two concentric rows. The outer row contacts the outer wall of the apparatus and the inner row contacts the permeate discharge tube. The centers of the supporting tubes of the first row are on a circle having a diameter of twice the diameter of the supporting tubes. The centers of the supporting tubes of the second row are on a circle having a diameter of 4.times.diameter of a supporting tube.times. cos 15.degree..
Abstract: Connection of membrane support tube supporting a filtration membrane and another tube path, both being provided with conical recesses and a double conically shaped sealing ring sealingly engaging the conical recesses, while a sleeve integral with the ring sealingly engages the membrane. The end faces of the support tube and the other tube part are free from sealing engagement with sealing material.
Abstract: A method for removing small quantities of coagulable substances from potato waste fruit water by means of a heating treatment, in such a way that, prior to heating, the fruit waste is subjected to an ultrafiltration at a pressure comprised between 5 and 10 Atm. until the protein concentration has increased to a value of at least 6%.
Abstract: An assembly comprising a non-woven tube having fixed on its inner side a membrane for membrane filtration, and a tearing element provided in the non-woven tube. The tearing element consists preferably of a longitudinal welding joint obtained by ultrasonic welding.
