Patents Assigned to Waggonfabrik Uerdingen A.G.
  • Patent number: 4290367
Abstract: The overhead conveyor comprises a main track and a branch track connected to the main track in a switch point, the tracks having a shape of a box-like beam with a longitudinal slit in its bottom flange for suspending a trolley carriage, the carriage supporting a rocking lever having at its ends guiding rollers, the operation of the switch point being safeguarded via tiltable tongues arranged on the lower flange of the track and cooperating with slide shoes provided on the ends of the rocking lever, and by means of locking rails attached to the side walls of the track to lock the rocking lever in the desired angular position; the ends of the rocking lever further support safety noses each having an inclined surface of a length sufficient for bridging the gap between the ends of the inclined tongues and the beginning of the locking rail when the slide shoe still engages the end portion of the safety tong.

  • Patent number: 4214535
Abstract: A switch for a suspended railway vehicle having two elastic wheels, comprises four rails forming three paths one of which branches off into two other paths. A gap is bounded between the four rails. When the vehicle runs over the switch from one to another path one of its wheels enters the gap and runs without support, and after passing the gap this wheel engages with a portion of one rail of the other path. A plurality of ramps are provided each arranged on a respective one of the above-mentioned portions and so that after passing the gap the one wheel is raised by the ramp to a contact surface of the rail of the other path. At the same time, each ramp includes a transitional portion merging into the rails with a transverse inclination which decreases proceeding in the direction along which the transitional portion merges into the respective rail.

  • Patent number: 4166611
Abstract: A springing system for a rail vehicle having a frame and a wheel bearing, has two substantially vertical spring elements connectable with the frame or the wheel bearing and located at both sides of the latter, two resiliently yieldable bushings each connected with the respective spring element and located between the latter and the wheel bearing or the frame, respectively, and two resiliently yieldable intermediate elements each located intermediate one of the bushings and the wheel bearing or the frame, respectively. Each of the bushings together with the respective intermediate element forms a stop for absorbing a longitudinal force which is produced during acceleration or deceleration of the veicle. The springing system also provides for a radial adjustment of the wheels of the vehicle under the action of a friction force between the wheels and the rails when the vehicle moves along a curved path.

  • Patent number: 4068542
Abstract: A drive arrangement for transport vehicles is operative for moving a step plate between operative positions so that passenger access to the vehicle is facilitated. The drive arrangement includes a turnable shaft coupled to the step plate, and a motor coupled with the shaft for turning the latter about its axis and for moving the step plate between its operative positions. An uncoupling device disengages the motor from the shaft so that the step plate can be manually moved. The drive arrangement also comprises a switching arrangement having first cam parts spaced from and about the shaft, and second cam parts mounted on the shaft for joint rotation therewith. The second cam parts each have a predetermined angular position relative to the shaft and to the first cam parts for controlling the operation of the motor so that manual movement of the shaft upon uncoupling of the motor therewith forceably positions the second cam parts to retain their respective predetermined positions.

  • Patent number: 3946974
Abstract: A suspended railway employs a suspension rail provided with two runway rails upon which respectively ride the first and second traveller wheel sections of a traveller from which a railway car, or the like, is suspended. A railway switch for the suspension rail has a stem section and two branch sections. Each of the two runway rails of the stem section also forms the outer runway rail of a respective one of the two branch sections. Each of the two branch sections furthermore has a respective inner runway rail. The inner runway rails of the two branch sections define together with the outer runway rails a switch gap over which one of the traveller wheel sections crosses unsupported as the traveller crosses the switch gap, so that in crossing the switch gap the traveller exhibits a tendency to tilt in a first direction towards the unsupported side of the traveller.
