Abstract: A trial neck piece for a joint endoprosthesis is designed for temporary arrangement on a separate shaft body (60) that is insertable into a tubular bone (9). It comprises a fastening region (12) which can be plugged temporarily onto a head part (61) of the shaft body (60) by means of a plug connection (l l), and a neck region (IO) for receiving a joint element (19) of the joint endoprosthesis. The trial neck piece (I) is designed as a separate, plug-on attachment piece which, with its fastening region (12), can be plugged with form-fit engagement onto the head part (61) and locked. A latching device (2) is provided which comprises a plurality of latching stages for different height stages of the trial neck piece (I). The invention thus makes available an easily attachable trial neck piece which can be arranged in a defined manner in different height positions in order, on the one hand, to obtain a secure and defined arrangement and, on the other hand, to permit the setting of different heights.

Abstract: Hip joint implant for fastening to a pelvic bone (9), with a support body which has a socket (6) and whose convex outer face is designed to bear on the pelvic bone (9) and which, on its concave inner face, has a receiving seat for a pelvis-side bearing that is designed to receive a joint head of a femoral component of a hip prosthesis, and with outwardly directed flat fastening brackets (2, 3) which are arranged at the edge region of the socket (6) and are each provided with at least one receiving seat for a fastening means. The fastening brackets (2, 3) are made of a reshapeable biocompatible material and are connected to the socket (6) via a non-releasable cohesive bond (7), wherein the socket (6) is made of another, stiffer biocompatible material. A high degree of robustness of the socket (6) is thus combined with what is, by virtue of the reshapeability, an improved adaptation to the anatomical conditions of the respective pelvic bone.

  • Patent number: 11357631
Abstract: An augment device for a joint endoprosthesis, the device including a sleeve surrounding a channel extending through the sleeve. The sleeve is formed of porous material for ingrowth of bony material, the sleeve comprising an inner face and an outer face. The sleeve further comprises a wall surrounding the channel, the wall being made of solid material and forming a sandwich structure with the porous material, wherein the wall forms a bulkhead between the inner face and the outer face. Thereby, the bulkhead wall will stop inflow of any cement across the sleeve from its inner to its outer face. The porous material on the outer face will be kept free from cement and its capability to promote bone ingrowth is reliably preserved. The augment devices are preferably provided as a set having different sizes and straight or stepped bottoms for improved versatility and maximum preservation of natural bone matter.

  • Patent number: 11357630
Abstract: The invention relates to a connecting sleeve for anchoring shafts of two oppositely arranged prostheses, preferably on an elongate bone such as a femur or humerus. The reinforcing sleeve comprises two receiving bushes (1, 2) for one prosthesis shaft each and comprises a separable coupling region (3) arranged therebetween for connection in such a manner as to resist shear forces and rotation. According to the invention, each receiving bush (1, 2) has, on the side thereof facing the coupling region, one fork (31, 32) of a pair of forks that interact with each other, and a fitting block (4) is arranged on a base of the fork, the lateral surfaces (44) of which fitting block have a distance that corresponds to an inner width of the fork, and the lateral surfaces (44) are designed to contact flanks of the fork in a planar manner, at least one fastening screw (5) being arranged transversely through the fork. The fork connection is simpler to produce than the known wedge connection and yet is sufficiently robust.

Abstract: A knee joint endoprosthesis set comprising modular knee joint endoprostheses in different sizes. Each knee joint endoprosthesis comprises a tibial component (2). The femoral component (3) comprises a joint element for articulated cooperation with the tibial component and comprises a shaft (5) for anchoring in the femur. The set comprises shafts in different sizes. In the femoral component (3), the shape of the shafts tapers from a distal end (51), facing toward the joint element, to a proximal free end (52) of the shaft. An oval cross section is provided at the distal end (51), and a round cross section is provided at the proximal free end (52) of the shaft. An ovality defined by the oval cross section increases as the size of the shafts increases. The different sizes are preferably graded according to the ovality. The set permits excellent adaptation to the particular medullary canal by means of the different sizes.

  • Patent number: 11213399
Abstract: The invention relates to a revision prosthesis shaft of a revision joint endoprosthesis for anchoring in an elongate bone (9), in particular femur. The surface is designed for adhesive agent-free fastening in the proximal epimetaphysis (91) and the diaphysis (92) of the bone. According to the invention, a distal epimetaphyseal extension (2) is provided at the far end of the shaft (12), the tip of which extension reaches into the distal epimetaphysis (93) of the bone. The extension (2) is designed for fastening in the distal epimetaphysis (93) by means of an adhesive agent (3), in particular bone cement. The invention combines the advantages of cement-free fastening, namely of the shaft in itself in the diaphysis (92), with the advantages of cemented fastening, namely of the extension in the distal epimetaphysis (93). Even in difficult cases in which sufficient hold previously could not be achieved for lack of fastening distance in the diaphysis, stable anchoring can thus be achieved.

The pores are configured for receiving a drug (9) and are being connected by interconnections (6, 7). Interconnections (6) originating from pores (4) of a first size have a first elution area and interconnections (7) originating from pores (5) of a second size have a second elution area. The interconnections convey the drug (9) to a surface of the device for elution to surrounding tissue. The ratio between the first and the second elution areas is predefined and selectable. The differently sized elution areas provide for different outflow rates. This allows for simple but reliable dispensing of drugs at positively controlled and well determined rates. Particularly, this enables a single implantable device to dispense drugs over preselectable durations of time, like short-term or long-term.
