    Abstract: A system for continuously manufacturing security tags involves supplying housing stock material in a continuous web from a supply station and then forming housing cavities in the housing stock material without separating the continuous web. Resonator strips are inserted in the housing cavities downstream of the plastic forming. The housing cavities with the inserted resonator strips are closed and sealed with lid stock material which is placed over the open ends of the housing cavities. Bias strips are attached to the outer surface of the lid stock material remote from the housing cavity. Cover strip material is then placed over the bias strips and outer surface of the lid stock material.

    Abstract: A method and apparatus is disclosed for producing high page count signatures for printed publications. Signatures with a 96 page count and 128 page count are illustrated and described herein. In either case, the signature is constructed of four sheets of printed sheet materials which are preferably continuous webs of sheet material that are fed to a folding and cutting apparatus. The four sheets or webs are folded in half along a main longitudinal fold line extending in the direction in which the web travels. Preferably, the webs are perforated along the main longitudinal fold line prior to being folded. The webs, after being folded in half, are perforated to create a longitudinally extending hinge. Also, the webs are preferably perforated to create cross fold lines. In the case of the 96 page count signature, the folded webs are divided into thirds by the cross fold lines. The folded webs of the 128 page count signature are divided into fourths by the cross fold lines.

The system further employs a second form, such as a chain of custody form, comprising a second substrate having an area adaptable to receive thereon a fingerprint image of the finger of the person. Preferably, an inkless fingerprint kit is used to provide the fingerprint samples on both forms. The fingerprint samples can be compared either manually or through the use of a computer to verify whether the same person provided the samples on both forms.

Alternatively, as portions of the release liner can be cut and removed to expose a small area of the adhesive so that the security device can be attached directly to the label. The small area of the release liner can be cut and the security device attached to the cut portion so that the remaining portion of the release liner can be separated while leaving the cut portion and the security device attached to the label.
