Patent number: 5718825Abstract: A liquid filter, such as an oil or gas filter, is provided which has a cup-shaped cylindrical filter housing to be mounted in a vertical orientation, with a releasable cover closing the filter housing. A liquid inlet passage and a liquid outlet passage are provided at the housing. A replaceable, substantially hollow cylindrical filter insert is vertically arranged in the housing. The filter insert being formed of a filter material member arranged between an upper and a lower disc. A collar, which is impervious to solid contaminants removed by the filter material member, extends from the lower disc upwardly along a part of the height of the filter insert, surrounding an outer circumference of the filter insert member. In this manner a collection chamber is formed for the filtered solid particles at the lower disc.Type: GrantFiled: December 7, 1995Date of Patent: February 17, 1998Assignee: Ing. Patent number: 5538626Abstract: In a liquid filter comprising a filter housing having at least one liquid intake channel and at least one liquid return channel passing through a face wall of the filter housing that faces toward a filter connecting flange to which said filter housing is to be mounted, a releasable cover that closes the filter housing liquid-tight, an individually replaceable filter insert that can removed from the filter housing, and the improvement of a hollow fastening screw forming an axial liquid channel in communication with the liquid return channel and that can be rotated relative to the filter housing, the screw being centrally arranged in the face wall of the filter housing and serving to securely mount the filter housing to the filter connecting flange. Check valves can optionally be provided in the intake channel and in the hollow screw to prevent unwanted flow of liquid through the filter housing, particularly when changing the filter insert.Type: GrantFiled: July 15, 1994Date of Patent: July 23, 1996Assignee: Ing, Walter Hengst GmbH & Co. Patent number: 5468386Abstract: A filter and associated valve are provided which are particularly useful for the purification of oil or fuel in an internal combustion engine. The filter includes a preassembled valve unit having a sealing member, an activating member and an interposed spring element formed without a housing. The sealing member and activating member penetrate each other along a part of their axial length, guiding each other and being displaceable relative to each other in an axial direction. The relative axial displaceability is limited by a stopper provided at the activating member and/or the sealing member. The preassembled valve unit is guided axially moveable in a drain conduit of the filter after insertion of the valve unit into the conduit.Type: GrantFiled: March 15, 1994Date of Patent: November 21, 1995Assignee: Ing. Patent number: 4811719Abstract: The invention relates to a fuel preheater, especially for use in diesel engines of motor vehicles, in which the fuel, as a first fluid medium, is heated by absorbing heat from a second fluid medium of higher temperature, and in which the two media are carried through the preheater in separate passages. The preheater has a core which consists substantially of a set of walls of meandering cross section which forms two groups of parallel passages opening alternately on one longitudinal side and the other longitudinal side and running between the individual walls of the set the passages of one group being all open on the same side. The core is disposed between two covers covering the open longitudinal sides of the passages.Type: GrantFiled: April 23, 1987Date of Patent: March 14, 1989Assignee: Ing. Walter Hengst GmbH & Co. Patent number: 4793407Abstract: The invention relates to a heat exchanger for two fluid media, especially liquids, having a housing which can be closed with a cover and which has a core for separately carrying the two media under heat exchange, at least the core being able to be produced by pressure casting. The core (3) is formed essentially of a train of walls in a meandering configuration which form the passages for the two media in the form of tall, narrow chambers, while the one medium and the other flow alternately through adjacent chambers. The chambers are divided into partial chambers disposed in two planes through which the fluid flows successively, by a common partition wall (34) which divides all the chambers vertically and is integral with the train of walls.Type: GrantFiled: April 23, 1987Date of Patent: December 27, 1988Assignee: Ing.
