The actuator includes a one-way motor that actuates a cam mechanism for causing engagement and disengagement of the center disconnect. The actuator achieves improved reliability and efficiency through a less expensive construction than conventional actuators.

Abstract: A power device includes a motor, a drive shaft, and a roller brake system including a cam mechanism. The motor may put out a driving torque in a first and a second rotary direction. The cam mechanism includes first and second cam members. The first cam member may be in a driven engagement with the motor and the second cam member may be slidably engaged with the first cam member and coupled to the drive shaft. The first cam member includes a circumferentially disposed ramped surface having a stop member at a first end thereof. The said second cam member is axially and rotatably fixed with the drive shaft and includes an axially extending protrusion disposed about a circumference thereof and slidably engaged with the ramped surface.
Abstract: An integrated air compressor and winch is provided that utilizes a single source of rotary motive power for driving both a winch drum and compressor mechanism. The integrated air compressor and winch is preferably provided with a gear case that is operable to provide an appropriate gear reduction for driving the winch drum while providing an appropriate drive speed for operating the compressor.

Abstract: A low voltage interrupt for an electric winch prevents voltage decay of a battery due to excessive operation of the winch. If the battery voltage decays below a threshold, the low voltage interrupt disables the winch, allowing an alternator to recharge the battery. A voltage sense circuit determines the voltage of the battery. The sensed voltage is compared to a predetermined threshold. If the sensed voltage decays below the threshold, the low voltage interrupt generates an interrupt signal. The interrupt signal causes a relay to actuate, thereby interrupting current to the winch.
Abstract: A brake mechanism having a motor output shaft outputting a driving torque in a power-in and a power-out direction. A camming device operably couples the output shaft to a drive shaft for fixed rotation. A one-way clutch operably couples the drive shaft and a brake device. The brake device is normally in an engaged position that prevents rotation of the clutch device. During a holding maneuver, the one-way clutch, camming device, and brake device cooperate to prevent uncommanded movement. However, the nature of the one-way clutch permits free rotation during a power-in direction and the nature of the camming device permits free rotation during a power-out direction.
Abstract: A winch mechanism is provided with an integrated inverter for providing AC electric power from a DC electric power source. The winch mechanism is also provided with a plug receptacle to allow standard AC electric devices to be plugged into the winch mechanism so that the appliance can be utilized remotely from other AC electric power sources.

Abstract: A utility winch having a single planet gear assembly that commonly engages adjacent ring gears, one ring gear fixed and the other rotatable. The planet gears of the planet assembly have inner and outer portions that rotate together and have different diameters and different numbers of teeth, one ring gear engaged with an inner portion and a second ring gear engaged with an outer portion of the planet gears. Said ring gears matched to the respective planet gear portions and having different numbers of teeth and different diameters as required to achieve involute engagement of the ring gears and planet gears whereby the rotatable gear is caused to rotate at a substantially reduced rate of rotation. Said rotatable ring gear is fixed to the winch reel for reduced rotation of the reel.
Abstract: A shift mechanism for a vehicle wheel wherein a pneumatic annular actuator, through air pressurization and depressurization, produces clutch ring movement to engage and disengage the wheel from the vehicle's drive axle. The components of the wheel end providing an air tight cavity in which the clutch ring is manipulated and which is subjected to air pressure changes. The components include a pneumatic annular actuator, a CV-joint, a rotary seal between the actuator and the CV-joint and a vent passage formed between the air chamber and rotary seal and breaching said air tight cavity. An air line from said passage to non-contaminated ambient air to provide continuous ambient air pressure to said cavity.
