Abstract: A light emitting assembly comprises an ultraviolet (UV) light emitting diode (LED) coupled to a UV reflector. The reflector has a three-dimensional shape spanning an angular range between 0° and 180° about a principal reflector axis of the reflector. The reflector is smooth and continuous across its entire surface. The UV-LED is directed towards a reflective surface of the reflector instead of towards the fluid to be treated. A central ray of the UV-LED impinges directly on the reflective surface of the reflector.

Abstract: Aspects of exemplary fluid disinfection apparatus and methods are described. One aspect is a disinfection apparatus comprising a body comprising a reflecting chamber, a fluid channel to direct a fluid into reflecting chamber, and radiation source positioned to output a disinfecting radiation into the chamber. The body may include an inlet and outlet. For example, the inlet may extend through the body to receive a fluid at a first velocity; the reflecting chamber may extend along an axis of the body; and the outlet may extend through an end of the reflecting chamber to discharge the fluid from the body. In this example, the fluid channel may direct the fluid from the inlet into the reflecting chamber at a second velocity smaller than the first velocity; and the radiation source may be positioned to output the disinfecting radiation into the reflecting chamber toward the outlet.

Abstract: A control circuit for controlling a UV light source configured to emit UV light into a purifying chamber of a device for purifying a fluid, the control circuit comprising a driver configured to provide the UV light source with a drive current; a fluid flow sensor configured to determine whether a flow of a fluid through the purifying chamber is present and generate a flow signal indicative thereof; a light sensor configured to measure radiant flux of light emitted from the UV light source and to generate a radiant flux signal comprising data pertaining to the measured radiant flux; a memory comprising a reference radiant flux; and a processor configured to: activate the UV light source upon the flow signal being indicative of presence of flow of fluid through the purifying chamber, during the UV light source being active: determine the drive current for the driver based on the measured radiant flux comprised in the radiant flux signal and the reference radiant flux.

Abstract: Invention regards a light-emitting diode (LED)-based system for purifying a fluid flowing through a pipe, said system comprising means for mounting the system on the pipe, a housing, a pliant carrier structure comprising a plurality of LEDs arranged flush with a first surface (7) of the structure (8) and configured to emit radiation in UV range, wherein, when the system is pipe-mounted, said structure is detachably arranged within the housing, and said structure (8) adopts a substantially tubular shape within the housing with said first surface delimiting a purifying chamber (9), wherein said purifying chamber is in fluid communication with the pipe so that the fluid flowing through the pipe passes, prior to being dispensed, through the purifying chamber where it is exposed to ultraviolet (UV) radiation of the energized LEDs.
