    Abstract: A treated paper product is provided according to the invention. The treated paper product comprises a result of applying a water based emulsion to a paper base sheet to provide an impregnated paper product, and drying the impregnated paper product to a water content of less than about 8 wt. % to provide the treated paper product. The water based emulsion includes a barrier and/or release forming component comprising at least one of stearylated melamine, polyethylene wax, paraffin wax, isoparaffin wax, microcrystalline wax, fluoropolymer wax, silicone wax, alkyl ketene materials, octyl succinic anhydride, Werner chrome complex, natural wax, and mixtures thereof. The water based emulsion can have a solids content of between about 2 wt. % and about 50 wt. % when it is applied to the paper base sheet. Methods for manufacturing and using the treated paper product, and a combination food and treated paper product are provided.

The release liner includes a clay coated paper substrate having a first surface and a second surface, a silicone coating provided on one of the first surface or the second surface of the clay coated paper substrate, and a friction coating provided on the other of the first surface of the second surface of the clay coated paper substrate. The clay coated paper substrate includes a paper base sheet having a first side, a second side, and a basis weight of about 50 lb/3,000 ft2 to about 100 lb/3,000 ft2, and a clay coating on each of the paper base sheet first side and second side at a weight of about 0.75 lb/3,000 ft2 to about 10 lb/3,000 ft2 per side. Laminates including a release liner and an adhesive backed article are described, and additionally described are methods for manufacturing and using.

Processing of the single ply paper product includes at least one of folding, creasing, applying adhesive, applying a susceptor patch, and heat sealing. In another embodiment, the invention is an article comprising a single ply paper product and a charge of oil and popcorn.
