Abstract: A system for forming one or a plurality of dimensionally stable objects by selective section-by-section solidification of a dimensionally unstable mass. The system includes a main body which is arranged so as to be stationary, a trough configured for connection to the main body to receive the mass, one or a plurality of controllable radiation source(s) to emit radiation which is suitable to solidify the mass, a base body on which the object to be formed may be constructed, a holding device to receive or hold the base body, a housing which surrounds at least the trough and the radiation source, and a moving device connected or coupled to the main body and the holding device. The moving device includes a drive, so that the holding device is capable of movement relative to the main body by activating the drive.
