Abstract: The present disclosure describes a composite material and a method for making the composite material. The method includes mixing a copolymer binder with a thermoplastic biopolyester polymer (TBP) at a mixing temperature of 80-280° C. to create a polymer mixture; and mixing pyrolysized organic matter and an organic filler material with the polymer mixture to create the composite material. In an embodiment, the source of the pyrolysized organic matter is post-consumer food waste, and the mixing is performed by a shear mixer that is operated at 40-100 revolutions per minute (RPM). The composite material may comprise by weight at least 35% of a combination of the pyrolysized organic matter and the organic filler material.
